The Molten Lava Cake is said to have been invented or rather discovered by Jean Georges Vongerichten the famous chef/restauranteur in one of his restaurants in the 1980’s when he took a cake out of the oven before it was done.Since then it has become a popular desert on the menu of numerous restaurants.This Godiva kit comes with 3 packets of mix and 6 aluminum foil muffin tins. Each packet makes 2 cakes. You must add 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter and 1 egg for each packet of mix.The instructions are pretty much straightforward.Once the batter is poured into the cups, you are directed to bake them at 400° for 11-13 minutes.My first 2 attempts each yielded 2 little chocolate cakes, very tasty but no molten center.For my third try I consulted recipes online. I decided to raise the temperature of the oven to 425° and shorten the cooking time to 8-10 minutes. The resulting cakes were wonderful!Since then I have repurchased the kit 2 more times.You don’t need a lot of experience in baking to have good results with this kit.Your results may vary but keep trying. Practice makes perfect.

I have reordered these a couple of times now from Amazon after my local grocery store quit carrying them. It's a great way to make a fast dessert for two people and the taste is delicious. I did find that I liked them better if I baked them about 9-10 minutes instead of what the box says. My first batch didn't have a very "molten" result when baked the full time. I have done these in a conventional oven as well as a countertop Cuisinart toaster/air fryer, etc. oven. Again, it overcooks if you go the 13 minutes. Also, you cannot make these and keep them for later. They will collapse.

Package includes everything one needs for six simple to make, great tasting lava cakes. Only problem is Amazon ships these in a bubble mailer and not a box so the package tends to get crushed during transit. This may result in damage of the internal packages and may lead to content leakage.

I swear every baking item Godiva has is perfect!You have to try their "brownie cheescake" lol (tip: melt plain Hershey chocolate & lightly cover the top of the cheesecake before you cool it).I buy these monthly because they are so good and easy to make.Once they cool, pop them in the microwave for 15secs & it'll be hot again.I've tried other seller versions but I always come back to Godiva's. I have yet to find another that competes.

I originally bought these just to try them. And damn. They blew away all expectations. The ingredients and directions are shockingly simple and fast to make, and the result is every bit as good as the dessert at any bougie restaurant.Now I order them in bulk and keep them on hand for anytime I have company.
