This Greenstar Touch n Hold Smooth Door Closer is exactly what I needed for my screen door. It installs easily and feels solid without being bulky. I had to replace a door closing mechanism on an older Storm Door. Saw one and it had good reviews and recommendations. I installed it quickly (Used the same drilled holes). Appears very sturdy and durable, fit perfectly, has the ability to adjust, functions well and the hands free foot lock (Touch and Hold feature) is great. I highly recommend this product.......

Door opens easily and closes fairly smoothly - much better than it used to with the closer it replaced. Based on user comments I expected a very gentle, even close with no pauses or stops. I get pauses and almost-stops but they're not bad and the closer lets the door shut completely, something the other closer did not do. The hold feature works fine and installation was straightforward. I'd buy it again.

Excellent product! Easy to assemble, clear instructions, works great and is a massive upgrade to the older style with chains.

This review is only after 1 day so I can’t speak to longevity. I had 2 closers on my storm door but it was choppy to open and the door would close super fast for the first 3/4 of the way closing before it would abruptly stop, bounce a bit, then finally close. It would constantly crush our ankles and almost knock my kids over. I bought this and it is night and day different. It almost fit perfectly with the previous closers but I only needed to drill 2 holes. Super quick and easy to install. The first time I closed my door tho it was way too fast and slammed shut. A small adjustment to the speed setting (which does not need a screwdriver like my previous closers) and the door is very smooth to close. It absolutely does NOT slam shut or go super fast for 3/4 of the door closing. It shuts at a very steady and slow pace for 98% of the way. Also a very nice plus is the one touch lock feature. So much easier than the finicky pieces on my previous closers. If you are dealing with an “aggressive” closer on your current storm door, then this will fix it.

These are easy to install and initially they worked very well. I have purchased five of them for two houses after about three months they stop latching. I figured out that I can take three and one oil or WD-40 and lubricate the mechanism and the bar and get it to work again, but I think that they should last much longer than this That is why I’m not giving it five stars. But until I spend the time to fix this one again, I am holding the door open with a can of baked beans.

My screen door used to close so hard and fast I had to catch it with my bum to keep it from shutting on my hands, fingers, etc., or worry about grandchildren getting caught when it closed. It was also, really hard to keep open. This new closer works great - it closes slowly and gently and the prop to keep the door open is a breeze to operate. To release it, all I do is open the door a bit wider and the lock will release, allowing the door to and close gently again. I am very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone with a “slamming” screen door.
