was great while it lasted...
I purchased this Lexar (64GB, white S70 Jumpdrive) back in March (about $60) exclusively for backing up my word and pdf files. I used the drive for nothing but pdfs and word documents. During the first 4 months it worked beautifully and effortlessly. No issues with backing up or transferring files (after initial file transfer, updates done on average ever day or every other day), and great speed. In addition to keeping the drive closed when not in use, I also kept it in a case logic portable flash drive case for extra protection. I should also note that I am a stickler for properly ejecting the drive. Well, it just so happened that in the midst of a significant portfolio preparation the drive literally just stopped working. It could not be read on my laptop (a MacBook Air) or anyone else's (Mac or PC) and inexplicably no less. The drive barely contained 10GBs of data. I cannot even begin to describe how vexed I was about this situation. Fortunately I was double-backing up everything and had all of the files on my computer, so very little time lost. Still, utterly perplexing. Days later, still no good, and again without any explanation. It literally just stopped working during a pretty important moment. I'm not sure if it just ran its course or what, but felt that others should know what happened to me after a few months of use. My other flash drives have been SanDisk, Kingstion, Sony, and HP (random hodgepodge, I know), and this was my first go with the Lexar. A no go for me in terms of brand, especially at the larger Gigabyte size (which echoes other concerns reviewers have expressed).

Nice Flash Drive for the price
Pros - Really can't beat the great price for the amount of space provided and it functions as designed. So far have had no issues.Cons - It definitely isn't the highest quality feeling USB flash drive, hence why I only gave 4 stars.Since it functions as designed and I have not really had issues with it I would recommend this for anyone who is looking for a budget USB flash drive.

Not bad for storage
This is a good USB although the transfer rate is really slow.I bought it to put my mp4 video guitar lessons on so I could watch them on my Toshiba Thrive tablet and practce my guitar. The transfer rate is so slow, that the video playback is really choppy.I transfered the video to a SD card and it plays fine. The USB case is plastic and seems really fragile.BUT it is 64 GB and I have over 50 GB on it nowso for pure transportable storage, it does its job.

Words Well But Poor Casing
64 GBs in one thumb drive is amazing. It wasn't that long ago I had a 2 GB hardrive in my desktop PC. Lexar's technology works well and I like the red light that's hidden inside the drive but the case feels like it's going to break if you dare put it in your pocket. I really don't understand this. I have numberous thumb drives and they all have solid hard plastic or metal casings. This drive feels like it's so fragile it's going to break at any moment. The USP tip fully retracts which is a good thing but I guess only time will tell if this is well-made or not.

Mac Owners Be Aware
This flash drive works well, but the encryption software will interfere with the SuperDrives on Apple computers (it will not recognize CDs or DVDs). I have contacted Lexar and they confirmed that they are aware of the problem, but have no fix for the software. In order to get your SuperDrive working again, you must delete the file LexarFilterScheme.kext and reboot your computer, but then you cannot use the encryption software! It's a shame that this problem exists, because it would be REALLY nice to be able to access the encrypted "vaults" on PCs and Macs without disabling the SuperDrive.

Faster than Stink
It really is faster than stink. Plug the thing into a high speed USB port, if you have one (but you don't need one), and its little red light goes all happy. There's that. There's also the fact that the thing holds more stuff than a refrigerator. Buy that little sucker. You'll be glad you did.Flash! Just discovered that the USB port in my car will not recognize the Lexar 64GB. Don't buy that little sucker. You'll be sad you did.

Unexpected delivery, but great shipping speed
I gave it five stars, because I got three jump drives instead of the one I ordered. The shipping speed was great, and they were packaged in excellent condition. When I opened up the package, three was a 3-pack of 8 GB jump drives in orange, green, and dark gray. I was expecting the single black 8 gig jump drive I ordered, but instead I got three of a different color, so it pretty much worked out since I only paid about 12 bucks.

Cheap Plastic is the Downfall
I bought this flash drive after reading the great reviews. After first using it, however, none of my computers were able to recognize the drive--I tried everything from opening disc utility to reformatting the drive. The red light would only ephemerally flash if the drive was nudged while in the USB port, but even then, my computer was unable to recognize it. The downfall of the flash drive is that it appears to be very cheaply made. The plastic is tacky, and the flash drive is very "wobbly"; to my dismay, it has a very wide range of motion while in the USB port of my computer. I just filed a claim and I'm waiting to hear back--hopefully I get a refund! This product honestly doesn't even deserve a single star, after all that it's put me through.
