Medicool 520 Professional Electric Nail Filing System

Always trust this affordable nail drill, been using it for ove 10 years, every time mine dies on me, I order the same one, busy nail tech here since 1993...I've had all posible drills you can imagine, even Erica, and this are super!

I have been doing my own nails for years but more recently in the past two years have become more serious with it, meaning I've invested more into it than just some nail polish colors. I stopped getting acrylics at the nail salon because of the cost but missed them terribly so decided to do them myself. One of these drills is completely necessary for getting the job done but I didn't want to spend $500 on a professional Kupa brand drill so I began researching and reading product reviews. I finally settled on this one because it had good reviews, wasn't "cheap" but also wasn't going to cost a fortune. Since I only do my own nails the machine will not be taxed the way a nail tech's drill would be. I've only used this machine twice so far but it is comfortable to hold, not too heavy, and performs smooth but with plenty of power. And I love the fact that it has the twist and lock chuck, and uses the standard size drill bit.

Owned this drill for about a year and it already malfunctioned. Was doing my nails and all of a sudden the hand piece sped up really high on its own and broke my drill bit in half, leaving part of the shank stuck inside the hand piece. Luckily, it did not hit me in the eye causing injury, but shot off and hit a wall. I don't even use it that much or even on high speed.

This is a great little unit, powerful too. I file my gel nail overlays with ease with this tool. The handle is like holding a pencil, very comfortable, and not too bulky. Highly recommend it. You could spend a few more hundred dollars on another unit but why? If you are a DYIer, this unit is perfect for you.

This is the best drill i have owned. For the price I’m impressed. It truly reaches 20,000 rpm but you should never use a drill at that speed. I do find that if too much pressure is applied to the nail the drill will stop which is a bummer for the motor and a blow to the perception of the quality. I can’t bring myself to spend $400 on a drill so this is the next best thing for those who would like something for personal or commercial use. Also, be sure to dust off the pen after every use to prevent clogging and this drill will last you a long time!

This is my first medicool file. I have used many others over the years. I can't even begin to express how much I love this file. It is so much quieter than any of the others I have had. More than enough power. I have never had to turn it up past half way. My clients are happy as well. We are getting the job done in a lot less time with this file.

I’m a nail tech and bought one after my mentor recommended this drill after having hers for almost ten years. It great until it wasn’t. Loved it, but it broke 7 months after purchasing. Bummed that it broke so fast!

Not enough power. When doing gel nails it's decent for any finishing filing but if you put any pressure on the gel it stops rotating.
