I was today years old when I learned....
So, I'm several decades old, and got this far in life taking for granted a fire extinguisher. With forest fire season upon us, I began thinking about our fire safety in our 5th wheel, and went down the rabbit hole of educating myself ( I'm the queen of rabbit hole). While taking an inventory in our home, vehicles, camp gear, RZR and doing an inspection, I learned I was not properly prepared. I found myself digging through things to find my current very outdated 1990's extinguishers, and the ones in the vehicles I had to fumble to get detached. All situations that I feel should be able to be done in seconds without hesitation. So, after my poorly executed fire plan, I decided to update everything and give myself and my family a "fire fighting" chance. I began researching new extinguishers and here I found a new lesson THERE'S DIFFERENT CONTENTS of an extinguisher for different types of fires. I took a red fire extinguisher for granted all my life thinking, fire 🔥 = any near by extinguisher. I'm not going into the details on all that because I may have been the only one that just learned that, but if you don't know the difference, I strongly recommend you just familiarize yourself, just to know. REVIEW OF EXTINGUISHER I haven't used them but I'm very impressed the size is perfect, they feel heavy duty, they are labeled well and have hangers to attach them. I like the variety pack. This is a great starter pack for our 5th wheel. I bought several other fire extinguishers to place throughout. Remember to be considerate of the contents vs the location you are placing them in, yes there are universal ones but you may prefer a water based one in the kitchen instead. Just food for thought. Another random thought for the day: When was the last time you cleaned the filter in your dishwasher? You're welcome. Stay safe! Thanks for reading! Have a great day! But these extinguishers!

Perfect for most kitchen fires.
This mounts to wall with a black retainer. It's easy to pull out of the mount, but still secure enough to withstand a light impact without dropping the extinguisher. This is rated for grease and electrical fires, and has a feature many small extinguishers lack: a way to check pressure in the form of a little green button that can be depressed. If it pops back up, the charge is still good, and if not, it's time to replace the unit. The extinguisher has enough of a load to handle a pretty good blaze. The scant downsides: Like most small extinguishers, it cannot be refilled after use and will lose pressure over time if used without emptying the contents completely. It's a powder based extinguisher, and the powder is conductive if wet- so it's not going to suppress arcing on wet electronics, and may actually make things worse in that one scenario.

Wanted it specifically for kitchen use
This review is for the kitchen fire extinguisher. I based this purchase strictly on wanting a small, handy fire extinguisher specifically for kitchen use. I happen to know the classifications and uses for different types of extinguishers but my wife doesn't, so I wanted to take the guesswork out of a time-sensitive event. I bought this and mounted it at the top of my basement stairs which is in close proximity to the kitchen and easily accessible if needed. It is compact and has a low-profile. Not too heavy to handle and operate. Most importantly it is specifically intended for oil/grease and electrical fires (B-C). The other deciding factor was that it has a pressure indicator. I was considering some of the aerosol-type extinguishers but they have no way of indicating they are still pressurized. The last thing you want to do is "hope" the unit will work when needed (over time, extinguishers may lose pressure). This has an approved test button that you occasionally press to ensure the unit is still pressurized (it does NOT discharge any agent - it simply tests for adequate pressure). You should NEVER test extinguishers by slightly discharging them - the nozzle seal will be broken and it will slowly lose pressure. It will be rendered useless shortly after such a test. Overall this seems to meet our needs and we hope it's never needed. NOTE: I purchased this item on Amazon for full price and have no affiliation to the seller. I try to write helpful, unbiased and insightful reviews because I also read reviews prior to making my own buying decisions. I notice many reviews lack helpful information, are not well written or give poor reviews based on not reading directions, inexperience or failing to read the product details prior to purchasing. Writing valuable reviews helps pay it forward.

It fits under the sink. great for peace of mind. However, I have NEVER had to use, so I can not rate its effectiveness.

SMALL BUT MIGHTY - 5yrs later & it worked!
I purchased this in Dec. 2019, yesterday my downstairs neighbor set their oven on fire and I ended up using mine.. so I'm definitely repurchasing because it proved a min 5yr shelf life and it was super easy to use (at 40yo I've only ever used a fire extinguisher one other time) highly recommend. Also SMALL BUT MIGHTY. Not much bigger than some of my water bottles, I've had it on my counter at my last two apartments now because I lost the mounting bracket to the wall of my old house 🤦♀️😅

Not Just For Kitchens!
Bought this 3 years ago, and today was its day to shine. I live in a large city & happened to see a plastic trash bin releasing smoke next to a wooden fence and electric pole down the alley. Grabbed this gem and was able to extinguish the embers & fire next to the fence, where the base of the bin had melted through. Using this product, I was able to get the unit contained enough to safely move it away from any spread points. Almost all property saved… Logically, it couldn’t take out the burning embers and trash bag that were in the bin. Let’s just say, that required the fire department, which is beyond the expected scope of this product. Not going to lie, I struggled with the cap, but that problem solved itself when I dropped it. No harm, no foul. Excellent product distribution & pressure, surprisingly good quantity, and it does quash immolations.

Just saved our lives and our home
Last night we had a plug short in the garage and it caught fire. We didn't know it was smoldering for an hour, and by the time we found it, there were flames. This little extinguisher put it out and saved us and our home. (side note always turn off your breaker before you do this). These are meant for kitchen but are for anything that might splatter and electricity. I had bought it for a chemistry class I was taking here at my house, but never needed it, and just happened to have it.
