Comprehensive
“Twitter for Dummies” is both a “how to” guide and the illustrious story of Twitter, all rolled into one. Meticulously researched and impressively organized, the book includes everything anyone would want to know about Twitter.Be advised however, the title of the book is not, “Tweeting Made Easy.” As the authors so aptly point out, “… crafting your Tweets is a real art. Some of the most popular tweeters have large followings because they’re good at writing attention-grabbing Tweets….writing and sharing in only 140 characters… definitely takes some getting used to.” That said, I can report that following the guidance in this manual (and the references cited therein) has helped me in drafting more effective and meaningful Tweets. I am also more mindful of what not to tweet. In addition, this book has helped me to diligently review who I follow (and who follows me) and trim users who are no longer relevant to my life and interests. For these reasons, and many other reasons too numerous to mention, I highly recommend “Twitter for Dummies.”Best Regards.

Too much filler
The problem with all DIY help books is that they have tons of filler to make you think you are getting your money's worth. A writer's goal should be to get the reader up and running quickly. Have a basic list/sequence, etc. to get started. You can include a history, a glossary, an encyclopedia, and everything else in the middle and back. I have mild ADD which limits my attention span (though I write like I don't). Basically, I want a set of directions - explanations and all other related info placed in the back of the book. I can't tell you if it's a good book or not - didn't make it through it (I guess I just answered the question) good for avid readers, bad for someone in a hurry (which is why I bought the book.). All I wanted to know:1. How do you sign up2. How do you find people to follow3. How do you get people to follow you4. What the heck is a hashtag (and why is it called that?)5. Then what happens....

Get the Kindle Version for Easy Access
I consider myself to be a very tech savvy person, but Twitter had me a little stumped. Having just begun consistent activity on the app this book is an excellent guide to navigating all of Twitter’s capabilities. I purchased the Kindle version so I have it on my phone and iPad as a quick reference while Tweeting. I love many “For Dummies” books and this one didn’t disappoint. Also, if you’ve been using Twitter for a while this book has a lot of good information that you might normally not think of while Tweeting and it provides helpful tips on how to get better exposure and pick up followers.

I've been avoiding pretty much any form of social media for many years ...
I've been avoiding pretty much any form of social media for many years now. I had never done MySpace, Facebook, Google+, or Twitter (or any of the ones that have long since been forgotten). However, I recently decided to give Twitter a go for my small business. This book did an excellent job of getting me started with lots of suggestions about how to use Twitter for business purposes (including lots of things that are inappropriate). There was plenty in there for individuals and for non-profits, etc. as well.I would highly recommend this book to someone who doesn't know much about social media in general, though it may be less helpful to those who have experience with other sites.

Don't waste your money
This book is terrible. It doesn't even explain, after you follow someone, how you see their tweets. I also looked for acomplete explanation of hashtags. Nothing.

This book is too advanced for Dummies
Twitter for Dummies certainly contains a great deal of information about Twitter and about using Twitter. However, it's over the head of a Genuine Computer Dummy like myself. To set up a Twitter profile one needs a 160 character bio, and Twitter for Dummies does not explain how to upload a bio. The first time I searched by name Jim Smith I found, as expected, many Jim Smiths. When I clicked on one of them I could read twitters to his account, but I was subsequently unable to access all the other Jim Smiths. Twitter for Dummies does not address this problem. If I can find someone to explain how to get past these roadblocks, I am sure that I will encounter many others as I continue to explore Twitter. If you are already a successful Twitter user and would like to improve your Twitter experience, or if you already have a high computer literacy (I do not) and can do things on computers even without explicit instructions, then you may find this book useful. But if your are a Dummy Like Me, you will be disappointed.
