Ice lasted 52 hours!
Normally, I'd wait a bit before posting a review on a product. To start, I was not compensated in any way like many other reviewers, although it would be nice to be in their shoes once in a while. We all know whats included, the bottle with attached screw on sealed lid as well as a second with an opening to sip from. The bottle does not fit in the cup holders in my vehicle, but I knew this going in. I did flip it upside down and it held pretty well in the cup holder this way, but I don't see myself doing this often. I received this bottle just about 2 and a half days ago and immediately put it to the test. I haven't even washed it out or actually used it to drink from yet, but it has proven itself in the one test that really mattered, holding its temperature. Time will tell on durability, but initially this 32oz bottle impressed me. After removing the bottle from the plastic and briefly inspecting it for any issues, of which there were none, I filled it to the top with only ice and sealed it shut. Without opening it, I checked it the next morning and it sounded like a solid mass of ice inside. I went to work and returned home that evening to find that only a slight bit of water could be heard inside, with a substantial block of ice remaining with it. Over 24 hours down and I'm happy with that as it is, but of course, I wanted to see how far it would go. I checked the next morning, about 36 hours since sealing it up and much of the ice could still be heard rattling around. After returning home on the second night, there was still ice heard inside. I couldn't resist and decided to open it up to see what was left. A small chunk of ice was there to greet me, 52 hours after going in. Even when this ice melts away, the water inside is still quite cold and would definitely remain this way for a while longer. I plan on doing temperature tests on this, as well as the hot liquid performance soon. I will update the review with any positives or negatives that I find as time goes on. I could have bought 5-6 of these for the price of a single one of my co-workers Yeti's and the performance is probably better with the Simple Modern.Update 1: The melted ice water is still cold after 78 hours. Added a temperature picture.Update 2: Hot liquids hold temperature just as well, although I admit I didn't put coffee in it for days at a time or have a thermometer on hand at work. However, coffee was as hot as it went in at the end of a 12 hour workday. This bottle does its job and does it well. Whether hot or cold, the outside stays comfortable to hold.

good and bad
I appreciate that this bottle comes in so many colors and sizes. I ordered the 22oz Summit in the sky blue, and it is exactly as pictured. My complaints with this bottle are minor, and kind of nitpicky, but I am very specific about what I look for in a bottle/thermos. Here are my observations, good and bad.1) This bottle keeps beverages hot or cold for a few hours, but not as long as other stainless steel insulated bottles I've had. No matter which lid I use, I feel like I lose a lot of heat through it.2) It is not dishwasher safe. I think this is because of the powder coating, but it's inconvenient because this particular bottle has a narrow opening and is very tall, and it is difficult to clean, even with a bottle brush. The flip top lid is also difficult to clean.3) This bottle is easy to hold onto and fits great in a purse or backpack. I carry mine in a large tote and it does not take up a ton of space. It fits nicely in a car cup holder, but because it is so tall it tips.4) It is also leak-proof, so I have not yet run into an issue of "why are my pants wet? why is my bag wet? are you kidding me?!"5) 22oz is a lot. I'm used to a 16oz thermos cup for tea or coffee and a 20 oz tumbler for water. It takes two tea bags (or twice as much loose leaf) to make a comparable cup of tea in this cup. It keeps me well hydrated!6) The powder coating it more robust than other coatings (like vinyl wrap) but I've only had this bottle for a few months and it is already chipping and peeling in areas. For the price, this is a great bottle. I would highly recommend it. I'm just not sure if it's the best bottle.

It's vacuum insulation is astonishing... but it becomes useless if the lids are not well designed.
It's vacuum insulation is astonishing... but it becomes useless if the lids are not well designed. The 22 oz version comes along with a stainless steel lid and a flip lid. The stainless steel lid provides vacuum insulation and is leak proof, both of which are great BUT when it comes to usability it fails: the hole for drinking is too wide, so forget about drinking while on the move if you don't want to splash water all over. The flip lid solves that problem, the drinking hole is small so you can drink while on the bus or walking BUT it's not vacuum insulated nor leak proof, so forget about cold drinks (the lid sweats A LOT) or putting the bottle in your bag (it will leak). What's worse, I contacted Simple Modern about this and they just replied the do have a lid that is vacuum insulated, leak proof and has a small hole for drinking, so I could proceed and buy it. To be fair, they gave me a coupon so the lid would be free when buying from their webpage BUT I would have to pay for the shipping. I don't live on the US, and every buy I make comes with extra taxes. I decided not to buy the extra lid, cause I think that when you buy a product, that's it, you shouldn't have to pay extra in order to rectify deficiencys.
