Boring says it all
I am so glad I decided to read the reviews for this book because after only three chapters it's mind numbing I can now put it where it belongs in the trash I have never before found the need to write a bad review until now

I read and read and read, but could not finish...
I tried. I really did try. Each evening I read a little more of this book... for what seemed like an eternity. Finally, at about 60% into the book I decided to give up. There was nothing holding me to the story. Nothing. I hate the thought of investing time into something, only to give it up, but there really was nothing to this trilogy that kept me wanting to read more.

Outstanding look at different life forms and mode of government
Basically the set up for this novel (I know it is a trilogy but better to think of as a longish novel) is corporations of various types are terra forming a distant star system. The robots become sentient who are doing the work and the corporations use the minds of terrorists and fighters from previous earth wars to upload into new robots to fight the free robots. As the uploaded humans were often on different sides mayhem ensues. In the process the author address different types of political systems and different types of life. this includes what makes someone or something human. The author provides his normal with so we see "going thru them like Bolsheviks thru Kulaks" or like the "Black 100s in the shtetl" This is a good story and the intensity picks up thru the three books, I enjoyed the book, I found it a fun read and I highly recommend it.

Husband got bored reading it
Bought this for my husband and he really liked the first book in the trilogy, but says the second one became boring when it seemed like it repeated the first book too much, and too many words were spent on details that weren't important.

hard SiFi for the future
This trilogy was an amazing amalgamation of technology and humanity, stirred into a new vision of what could happen. I was so glad to finish the book and be back on earth, present day. But what a journey!

Great, spanning, thoughtful, political, life-affirming.
Great, spanning, thoughtful, political, life-affirming. I highly recommend as it holds a mirror of our limitations up for a good long gaze.
