Exactly as described
This is a wonderful little tool. It's affordable, functional and quiet. Unfortunately my Great Dane doesn't want her nails done so I haven't really been able to use it on anyone but myself yet. It'll grind some nails down quickly, for sure.

Easy and quick
I have had the Pet Nail Grinder for a year now, and have used it weekly since it arrived. Following the clear and simple directions, it took very little time for my pup to learn to tolerate having her nails trimmed with the nail grinder. The grinder is very quiet and does a very good job. With just a couple of seconds per toe each week (a total of less than 5 minutes!) my dog's nails are always the correct healthy length. I follow up her pedicures with Musher's Secret paw wax for healthy toe nails and paw pads. I highly recommend this Pet NailGrinder.

Used for guinea pig nails
I bought this as a filer to help file down my guinea pig's nails. One of my piggies has black nails and unfortunately I have clipped the quik and caused her to bleed because I can't tell where it is. I decided to look for a filer/grinder that could help with this task.Upon receiving, the instructions are to hook up to the charger. Cable is included, but not the box. Then I let it charge for about 30 minutes just to see how long it would last to file a couple of nails. It only lasted about 30 seconds before it slowed down, so I let it charge longer this time. There is a light indicator that lets you know when it is done charging because it'll stop blinking. It took about 2 hours to fully charge. Then I was able to use it with ease and grind my piggy's nails with no worry of clipping the quik. The battery did not die and was still going even after I finished. It is very fast and not too noisy which is what I wanted. Great battery life after you let it fully charge.I ordered mine in white and the size is just right to hold. It does get a little hot but since I only have guinea pigs, it might get hotter if you're using it on a larger pet. All in all I would recommend this for pet owners.

good product Copper approved
The item is quite good for a rotary tool that is quiet and effective is pretty nice to have. Also has safety guards for different size dogs so you don't over shave or file your dogs nails. However, I don't think my dog is a fan of it just yet. Gonna need to bribe him with more treats before he gets use to it. Pretty comfy in my hand and the grip is a decent thickness that i don't feel like I am getting arthritis. I think my dog will love his nail filing sessions with this item."Don't know why he got his electric toothbrush near my nails, its a bit suspicious and it makes that weird noise. I would give it a single star cause it doesn't taste good...." - Copper (mixed dog)

Buy this
This is going to sound like a fake review but I just cannot express enough how much I love this item. This was the best $20 something I have ever spent. My dog used to freak out seeing the traditional clippers, it would take an hour to do her nails halfway decently and once she even snapped at me. She would take one look at the clippers and run for the hills. Now with this grinder she will sniff it and doesn’t seem too panicked by nail trim day. It’s very quiet while running, easy to use, and the battery lasts forever! The trim is so perfect and precise that I can make sure none of her nails touch the floor by the time I’m done. I’ve had a grinder before but it was huge and loud and she hated it. The safe guard allows me some comfort so I don’t have to worry about hurting her.

WARNING** Long-haired owners tie back hair/loose articles before use. DONT USE ON LONG HAIRED PETS.
I gave this product three stars. The reason being is because the product does file pets nails relatively less stressfully, as when a dog nail clippers are in use- if done safely and properly. The product does seem to be of relatively good quality/materials.That being said, my concern lies in the fact that there are virtually zero safety precautions for material or hair entanglement regarding the presence of any automatic shut off when increased resistance is met. Most other products with rotating components (I.e. handheld fans, vacuum cleaners) can detect if a snag is detected at which point the motor stops spinning and shuts off until the device is cleared of snags and restarted. In this situation, a single strand of my hair came in contact with rotating end of the dog nail grinder, and it started twisting until an entire chunk of my hair became fully entangled, which happened over the course of approximately 1-2 seconds. The device continued spinning and spinning and I could not get the sliding on/off switch to slide off because the device continue to spin in my hand. The device was very hot, almost smoking, because of the amount of hair entangling, but it did not turn off. This had me greatly concerned, not just for myself, but for my dog.Because my dog is a long-haired mixed breed (Bernedoodle, or Poodle and Bernese Mountain Dog mix), her hair could easily become stuck in the twisting mechanism. Especially because she is also a large breed, meaning we cannot use the included plastic nail guard due to the size and shape of her nails. At which point, this would be much a more painful and traumatizing experience than just using a regular nail clipper, and I do not want to traumatize her… or myself.I feel like if the rotary mechanism senses a snag or a tangle in the rotating bit, it should have a safety feature that automatically shuts it off so that people and/or their pets do not have hair (or other loose articles) incidentally damaged, burned, ripped out, or removed. The reason I gave 3 stars instead of 1 is because I understand that this issue is partially my fault and in the future, I would tie my hair back fully if I were to use it again. Also it’s not an entirely useless product, but can only be safely used (in my opinion) on smaller, shorter haired breeds. With that being said, I am glad this happened to me rather than my pet because I was able to easily cut the affected strands of my hair that were burned and frayed off and am physically unharmed, although my hair does look very strange now since this large strand was in the very front. Regardless, I take some responsibility for the incident, however, I don’t want my situation to happen to any long haired pets in the future and hope the company makes some safety adjustments to the product. One thing that could significantly improve safety would be to include an overall larger grinding bit that also includes a larger plastic safety guard with a bigger opening for large breed dogs, so that their nails can be filed safely with decreased risk for tangling, ripping, tugging, etc.As mentioned, I was not able to use the provided guard that comes with the product because my dogs nails are simply too wide/thick to keep the guard on. If you have a small pet with thinner nails, the guard would likely better protect you/your pet or reduce the risk of entanglement by probably 90%.In conclusion, I will likely not use this on my long haired dogs, but I would be willing to try the product again on my short haired, smaller dog (Boston terrier) because the risk for entanglement is minimal to none (for the pet), and I can use the file guard that is included with the product. Of course, my hair will be tied back next time…I hope this helps someone make a more informed decision on purchasing this product.
