Warning: You have to get off the couch to play this game
This game is so much fun, Yes its like Skate boarding, Yes it is a challenge but it is one of the most fun gamed I have ever played. The first board I received was defective and would not calibrate but the replacement board works great and synced up right away, I did not let this effect my review because these things happen. The causal skate mode is awesome the next step up is challenging but with practice it gets better, myself I like the challenge. I didn't start playing rock band on expert and I wont play ride on expert right away either. To me its just like rock band and game like it where you have to work to become better. Again THIS IS THE MOST FUN I HAVE EVER HAD PLAYING VIDEO GAMES! and Ive been gamer for over 20yrs

Difficulty calibrating
I got this for my husband because he loves the Tony Hawk games with just the controller. At first we were fed up with trying to calibrate it, it took us an hour to get it to calibrate. I went to youtube and looked up videos on calibrating it and the one i found was really helpful. Use two new batteries and two old (but not real old) and put it on the box to calibrate the first part. Also make sure there is a full 4 feet clear in front of all sensors and bright lights mess with it as well, Also any metal in the room will keep it from calibrating. We removed all metal cleaned the floor then we exicted out of the game and went back in and it finally calibrated. Now my husband is playing it and he loves it and it's fun to see him having so much fun with this game I highly reccomend this game. Though it is not for everyone I'm honestly no good at it but it's still fun to try. I do hope this helps as I couldn't find much in the way of calibrating it every thing said the same and truth is it wasn't helpful until I found the youtube video a teenage boy did.[...]I posted a link to the video I hope it shows up becuase it will help if you need it. :)

dissapointed
I love Tony hawk games but this one is hard to control, the game doesn't always recognize your movements, and they really cut back on game features. Was excited to get this game, played for half an hour and became utterly disappointed. Haven't touched it since the day i bought . Definitely would not recommend it to a friend. The skateboard controller was a clever idea though, it could just be better

All the Negative reviews are correct
I knew from the negative reviews I should not buy this but my niece really wanted it for Christmas so I bought it anyway. It is horrible. It doesn't respond correctly to movement, the game is boring, you will get frustrated. Luckily Amazon has a good return policy so I got my money back. Save yourself the hassle of having to return this and just don't buy it. Sorry Tony.

Fun but Different
Tony Hawk games have been a favorite of mine for years (I still play the Nintendo Gameboy Advance title from time to time!) This is a departure from the regular open world of the previous titles in both gameplay and the controller.Controller: First thing you need to know is that you MUST put the grippy tape (included) on the goard or it will slide all over the carpet and can be dangerous. Next thing you need to know is that calibrating this thing is the most frustrating experience I've had with any Xbox 360 accessory. If you don't have it just right it will not work and restart the calibration. I watched several You Tube videos and read up online and finally found a cure: set the board on the box it came in and try again. Having it higher off the floor worked for me.How does it work? It has several light sensitive sensors (sides, front and back) and has a gyroscope that recognizes the tilt of the board for tricks. Kick the front up and then jump to Ollie for instance. Do the same thing and touch one of the sensors to grab your board in the game. Fortunately, there are a ton of tutorial games to teach the basics and get you going. I found that the board was responsive and intuitive once calibrated. I think in the future this kind of accessory/controller will be much easier to use and lead to a bunch of innovations (can you see a surfboard version? I can.)Gameplay: You ride the board, pushing one leg past to similuate a push off to speed up and then do tricks by leaning and touching the board. The big difference other than the controller is that the levels are on rails with some split path options, which means that you follow a path (in yellow) instead of free roaming the world. This makes it easy to know where to go and easy to prep for tricks, but takes away from the fun of discovering the best places on the maps from previous games.I found the controller fun and intuitive and the game simple enough to play and enjoy. Replay value is low as their are only so many maps and so many paths to play. Overall a three.

boy really took to it, simple to set up and easy to play with!
fun device, calibration was easy, i only wish there were more skateboarding maps to run on. they could have really made this interesting if it was actual. i wonder why they didnt use actual real city mapping instead of the pseudo-thing. millennium park in chicago, why not get it exact? anyway, appreciate the graphic quality and touch sensitivity. final grade? A.

Better than I had hoped for
After reading other reviews I was on the fence about getting it. I thought about it for a few days and thought what the heck, and ordered it. The only thing I had trouble with was tuning it to the 360, I think I had trouble was because I had never had to tune any thing with the 360. For those that are like me, push the button on the 360 than push and hold the button on the board till the 360 see's it.I see others say they had a hard time getting it to calibrate, I had no trouble with it, only did it once. I have no problems in the game, it responds just fine to what I do on the board. Heck I am still trying to figure out how my 6yo daughter does some of the stuff she does...lol

Fun! at many levels
My son (9 years old) loves this and has played on it almost every day for a month. Husband also likes it a lot but might fall and hurt himself one day as he is over 200lbs, and he;s pushing the weight limit but the board holds so far. I found it had many options for easier riding and more advanced techiniques also. The dogs interfer with the sensors some times if they get to close but overall this is COOL.
