What an epic writer. This book is interesting because the stories are written from the time the author is 21 until he is in his thirties. You can see him grow as a writer through each story and they just get better. Some of them are very bizarre and intriguing and the later ones have the same color, lush vocabulary and humor as all of Marquez' famous novels. The book also arrive in great condition and sooner than I expected.

A good book, nice storyline

Marquez is sort of hit or miss for me. The later stories are clearly the better stories. The early ones, eh, he was cutting his teeth and it's obvious and it's not always pleasant or coherent. I'm tempted to say skip his short fiction and read his novels, but I love the later short stories enough that I think it's worth having them in this reasonably-priced collection.

Amazing Latin American literature. If you want to read something different this is a very good option of this Nobel prize for literature.

It is a book very well written. I highly recommend it.

Great read

These stories don't really compare with his more famous works. They are mostly very dark but they do convey a sense of the misery and poverty that is the reality for the poor people of Columbia and the Caribbean. Some are hard to read because of the misery that they convey.
