Great mic for the price
I needed a cheap mic to use with a laptop thru powered speakers to DJ a small party. This mic fit the bill perfectly. As previous reviewer Rockwell suggested, I also purchased a 3.5mm Stereo Male to 3.5mm Mono Female Adapter here on Amazon for 3.29 with free shipping, recommended so you hear sound from mic through both speakers.I was worried after reading some reviews about the mic sound being too low etc but after plugging into my laptop, Windows 7 asked what the device was I plugged in. I clicked that it was a microphone and I was off to the races. I did have to go into recording control for the microphone on the laptop to "listen to this device" and I had to click on microphone boost so I could hear it. With that I had my mic volume in Windows set at about 70 and I was LOUD. Loud and as clear as one would expect for a 10 dollar mic. Everyone I told about the price was impressed. As long as I kept the mic behind the speakers, I experienced no feedback whatsoever. The only negative was the delay between speaking into the mic and actually hearing it come out of the speakers, but I almost expected that going through a laptop. Not really the fault of the mic, just something that comes with the territory being a laptop DJ.If you are looking for an inexpensive all purpose microhone, this is a good starting point. I highly recommend it.

GREAT for the Price
I'm a Podcaster and I'm also into Internet Radio, When I bought my Board - a Behringer 1002b this past Summer I needed to upgrade to an XLR Microphone as my USB Microphone obviously wouldn't work in a mixer, I didn't have much cash so I went on amazon and looked for a cheap mic and came across this one, I bought it and didn't expect much since It cost $20, When It came and I hooked it up, I WAS SO IMPRESSED, For the Price this is great Microphone, It sounds like a PRO Microphone, the Sound Quality is perfect.Pros:-Great Quality-Cheap, But GREAT for the PriceCons:Not Many-Build Quality isn't what you'll get with a pro mic. i.e. PR-40, RE-20, or the Rode Procaster evenI'd also like it to ship with an XLR to XLR Cable, instead you get a XLR to 1/4 inch Cable which is like 20 feet long, Which is great, don't get me wrong, it still works great though. Conclusion: Probably the best Microphone for the Price. Great if you need a Fast/Cheap Microphone for Podcasting.

Great mic for the price, may need laptop amplification
For the price you can't expect it to be some perfect professional microphone. But if you are on a budget and you don't need anything fancy this could work great for you. Depending on what you are hooking it up to it may be extremely quiet. I mean Extremely Quiet! Almost to the point that you can't hear anything. But fear not. If this is the case you use a laptop as an amplifier. The sound setting in windows allows you to do this. You may need to google how exactly to do this because its a bit different depending on the version of windows you have. But you plug the mic in the mic port, the speakers (or speaker system) in their port, adjust the settings correctly and you are ready to roll. The downside with using the laptop as an amplifier is that there is a short delay between when the speaker speaks and when you hear it over the speakers. This delay is unavoidable because of it having to convert the sound from analog to digital. It is only a few milliseconds but it is a little weird when you first start talking into the mic. I used this mic to DJ at my brothers wedding reception. I had it connected to sound system with 11 speakers and 2 sub-woofers. If I were a professional DJ I'd have sprung for something more fancy. But since it was a one time thing I didn't want to break the bank and this worked just fine.

Very good value in an inexpensive microphone
I purchased this microphone (Audio-Technica ATR-1300) to use for speech for a company party. We were trying to keep the cost as low as possible, but high quality for price and purpose. We used an Ampeg solid state bass guitar amplifier and this microphone came with the 1/4" plug to patch straight into the input jack of the amplifier. The voice quality was excellent, and had plenty of volume for the room (hotel conference/reception room, occupancy of around 180). Planning to see what else it can do (mic guitar and bass amps, etc.), but it was well worth the cost just as a handheld mic for speech.

Works nice but having a stereo mini pin connector would be better
I purchased this mic to work with my Kodak Playtouch Camcorder at a very reasonable price to do interviews with a hand-held mic. I like the fact that it is a unidirectional dynamic mic that doesn't need a battery. After using it with my camcorder, however I discovered that the mini-pin was monoaural, which put the audio only on one channel of my recorded video and not on the the other channel. Another reviewer talked about the necessity of buying a mono-to-stereo mini-pin adaptor. Here therefore is a message to the good folks at Audio-Technica - We would all appreciate it if the product out-of-the box came with a stereo mini-pin (and stereo 1/4 inch adaptor) instead of the mono mini-pin.

Perfect for podcasting
I got this mic for podcasting. I didn't want to spend too much on a new hobby but i didn't want something that wasn't of a quality build. When I saw this retails for twice as much from other sites I ordered it right away. This mic sounds great. So far I'm using my hands to hold it instead of a stand or boom and there's no unwanted noise. I even held by the top with my hand wrapped around the sliver mesh and you couldn't even tell. If you have dogs it will pick up the squeak from there toys if you leave the door open, but I simply closed the door and solveded that problem. So far I only have one but intend on getting 2-3 more.
