Can this scanner omit white pages on scans? (i.e. double sided scans that have nothing on back of some pages)

Yes. The scanner has three options, simplex, duplex and skip blank page. Skip blank page will omit white pages and it has a slider to adjust ratio of black pixels so pages with few information are scanned.
