What can I say? Its "more than meets the eye"! (I was too excited and bought all the Seven volumes available)
And YES, It is a must for every transformers fan. Pages are in impecable condition. It even has a foreword from the artists in the beginning. And for all those thinking there are no cover arts. YES they are IN there. I love the hard covers of each Volume. A Decepticon / Autobot stands out with its massive bust. Way cool. My only hope if they would release the G1 Comic Encyclopedia again MTMTE Volumes, and in this very way. (But thats another story) --------------- About the shippment. I am from Chile and I requested this comic through Amazon. The comics did arrive in the nick of time (even earlier than I expected) and in impecable condition. So.. Five Stars for this. .............. One important notice. For all you transformers fans. I would highly recommend to buy these editions now. They are invaluable. If you wait too long (maybe a couple of years), maybe its value would raise too much and two things might happen. I will be out of stock! You might find it for an absurd price like it happened on the More Than Meets the Eye Transformer encyclopedia. And I will end once again. It's very much worth it.

Love it!!!
Have been a huge transformers fan since I was a child, and will probably be for life. But I did get out of comic book collecting a while ago. When found these books though I had to start collecting them!! Each volumes has been put together really well and I have enjoyed the stories a lot. I really like the over sized format of the books and the hardcover editions look great on my bookshelf.

Decent writing and art, great book design.
I have read the first four volumes of "The Transformers: The IDW Collection". I stopped at volume 4 because it collected the last issues written by Simon Furman. He wrote the Transformers UK comic series and the last 20 or so issues of the original Marvel series. I like his style, and just haven't felt like reading any of the other writers' work. The reboot is handled well. I liked the choice to use the G1 designs, but use a story more similar to the recent live-action films. Furman does a great job of blending 80's nostalgia with modern character development and plot progression. The opening story arc, which flows thru the Infiltration, Escalation, Stormbringer, Devastation, and Maximum Dinobots mini series is a lot of fun. It reintroduces the idea of Transformers in a coherent manner. If you have never watched or read any Transformers stuff you won't be confused. If you are a huge fan of the entire history, or just a particular version, you won't be offended. My favorite elements were the reimaging of Ultra Magnus, the Headmasters, the Dinobots, and Soundwave. They become very deep and layered characters. That was always a plus to Furman's writing. My only complaint is that the new series is not particularly...powerful. Not sure how to put it. The story is fun, but that's it. it's a fast-paced action tale for quick enjoyment, not a story that has a lot of depth and that will become "classic". basically, i don't see myself wanting to re-read these issues. There good for a one off. Contents: Spotlights on Galvatron, Blaster, Arcee; the New Avengers vs The Transformers and Devastation mini-series; and Spotlights on Grimlock and Wheelie.

These Books Should be Movies
People go watch the movie nowadays and they think that's what they're all about. This is most emphatically not true at all. Simon Furman needs to write the script for the next movie and someone else needs to direct. These books are far better than the movies and always will be.

Volume 3 may not be as solid as the first two volumes but it is still a fantastic read. I will say I am not a fan of what they did to Arcee's character, she may as well not even be called Arcee she is that far removed from her G1 counterpart. Considering she is the only female Transformer in the story thus far they could of given this role to another bot to be the psychotic and overly edgy one and kept the great character that Arcee was in the original cartoon. The Devastation story starts to wrap up the first main story arc in Phase One. Wheelie's one-shot is very interesting. There is a cross over event with the Avengers of all things as well. Galvatron being his own character, and not a reformed Megatron, leads to some interesting story lines later in the series. Grimlock's is well, what you'd expect from Grimlock. Blaster was always one of my favorites as a kid in the late 80s and I really enjoyed his one-shot story.

Still cannot get enough of the IDW series. Hope they keep producing these full volumes. I love owning the physical copies rather than digital, single issues and these hard cover volumes are beautiful. (Going to keep saying the same thing about every volume I own. I really do love them.)

Bought as a present for a transformers fan. He loves them and they look great on display. Can't wait for the next one to be released.
