It’s a good idea to read this book. I never regret. This book gives me more ideas. I love it! :)

Inspiring, Informative, and Enjoyable
“How To Get Ideas” by Jack Foster was an inspiring, informative, and enjoyable book. It is 183 pages long and a very easy read (I read it in about two hours). It includes fun quotes, relatable examples, and some witty humor. The first ten chapters include ways to condition your mind to become better at getting ideas. Some of these chapters include principles like having fun, visualizing success, and rejoicing in failure. A favorite excerpt of mine from Visualizing Success states, “Do not imagine that you will get the idea. Imaging that you already have it. Imagine being praised and thanked and rewarded. There’s a good change you will be.”The last five chapters of the book focus on a five-step method for producing ideas. This section again was a fun and easy read, but I wished it had been a bit more inclusive. It was more in-depth than the first ten chapters but not a whole lot. It still carried a strong motivational theme rather than a specific process. While I do wish it were more specific, there is still great information contained in these chapters. One of my favorite statements in the book is in chapter 11 when the author quotes Norm Brown stating, “If you don’t now where you’re going, every road leads there.”Overall, this book is a great read and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their creativity or wanting to learn how to get ideas. While it could have included more specific and concise content, it is very inspiring and motivational.

Inspirational and Worth Reading Again
If ever you needed a shot in the arm and to regain faith in yourself and your capacity - this book is a lovely read. It outlines secrets to creativity in any discipline or endeavor. Do yourself a favor and buy it for a leisure read and see what it sparks for you.

Quality Piece for Producing Effective Ideas
There are many well known techniques for developing new ideas; however, producing high-quality and effective ideas is not always so straightforward. Jack Foster provides effective methods for producing valuable ideas in a very enjoyable book packed with examples, applicable stories, real world applications and a good deal of humor.The advertising/marketing field is among the most idea intensive industries requiring a steady supply of inspiration for mere survival in the profession. Foster details his numerous experiences in advertisement agencies as well as his management roles in marketing firms providing significant insight on how ideas are formed for profit in the business world. Foster and his associates have often had to dig deep to continuously develop high-quality ideas and he shares the tactics and devices that proved most effective.This book is not long and can be read in short order, but do not let this fool you; the content is packed with many useful tidbits on generating ideas that if put into practice will have your mind actively producing effective ideas at once. There is no doubt if you are just searching for a better way, are stuck in a rut, or looking for that life changing idea, then this book will be an asset.

An inspiring, useful and good book.
It was an enormous pleasure and learning to have read this book. I consider that for generating value for organizations is important that our teams have the confidence to express their ideas y give their the opportunity to do it. Many time we reach a dead point when concerns overeached the intellect and bock us the possibility to generates new ideas. I think, that Jack Foster's book give us many lessons about it such the importance to transmit confidence to our team to express what they think and the values of persisntence and determination. The five steps method of generate ideas, is very useful and practical. Finally, I consider that this book is a result of the author own persistence and is an example about what we can do by ourselves if we have the true confidence an believe in our ideas.

Good book
This is a good book, it is not exceptional, but it certainly brings significant contributions to stimulate creativity. Being a book on how to create ideas, it was expected to be more innovative. But, it makes a good compilation of the best ideas on how to get more ideas.

Guter Ansatz, der Autor drängt dem Leser jedoch sein Allgemeinwissen auf
Der Ansatz, wie man zu Ideen kommt entspricht mir als Leser sehr. Konkrete Anleitungen und Methoden zur Ideenfindung sind in diesem Buche nicht enthalten, viel mehr wird erläutert man ausgehend von Wissen zu dem berühmten "Aha-Effekt" gelangen kann.Die einzelnen Themenbereichen sind mit verschiedene interessanten Anekdoten gespickt. Leider hat es der Autor meiner Meinung nach mit Anekdoten und insbesondere mit Aufzählungen von erfolgreichen "Ideenfindern" und deren Ideen übertrieben. So gibt es Passgen mit Auflistungen solcher "Ideenfinder"-Momente über Seiten hinweg. Hier wäre die Devise angebracht gewesen: Weniger ist Mehr. Im Weitern wird jedes Kapitel mit mehr oder weniger passenden Zitaten begonnen. Eine typische Unart von Beratern, wo irgend möglich Zitate anzuführen.Aus diesen beiden Gründen geben ich diesem Buch nur 3 Punkte.Nichts desto trotz denke ich, kann das Buch spannend sein für Personen, welche sich mit dem Thema der Ideenfindung auseinandersetzen wollen.

Not bad, not great
Had to buy this for a Design course I was taking... ended up only needing it for one chapter. Read through most of the book but, didn't really do anything for me.

Un livre qui ouvre l'esprit
How to get ideas est un livre très agréable à lire, plein d'anecdotes éclairantes et amusantes qui font bien comprendre les différents concepts. Je ne suis pas sûre que j'aurais découpé le plan de la même manière (quand on en connaît un bout sur la créativité, on a parfois l'impression qu'il y a des recoupements à faire entre certaines sections ou certains concepts), mais ce livre ouvre l'esprit et permet vraiment d'apprendre à penser "out of the box". Je pense qu'il peut être utile tant aux néophytes qu'aux professionnels. Notamment parce qu'il nous fait vivre de l'intérieur le monde de la création publicitaire d'où est issu l'auteur.
