Gamble to buy
The previous two reeds I purchased last week arrived just fine. The reed case is thin plastic. The envelope is a plastic bag with 1 layer of bubble wrap. This time the reed was broken because the little plastic tube had been crushed. This needs to be in a small box inside the envelope.Bassoon reeds are expensive at $17/ea. package your product correctly, please. It is a good brand of reed.

2 Big Cracks Down the Middle
I got 2 brand new reeds. I crowed on each of them and they sounded amazing! I started playing on one reed and it made an awful rattle sound. I decided to get a knife and started shaving the tip to get a better tone and make it easier to blow through. Next thing I knew, it cracked down the middle. My second reed sounded the same way. Instead of shaving the tip first, I started adjusting the wires to see if that would help. It also cracked straight down the middle as soon as I started squeezing it. I don't recommend it if you want to adjust it to your preferred sound and style.

Wonderful reed!
I get these all the time! Even though each reed isn't perfect, this is the brand of commercial reeds that I stick to. :)
