Excellent value
I added a few of these cameras to the outside of my home...they look quite real and a few of my neighbors have been completely fooled...including one neighbor who was hamming it up for our camera thinking we were watching (which we were from the window)... They are plastic and light weight and the blinking light adds a bit of realism to the camera (although I noted other reviewers stating they eat batteries quickly.). I'm satisfied with this product and would recommend it as a cheap theft deterent.

Best Purchase Ever...
We have had our fake dummy camera now for almost a year, and it has lasted just fine out in the Florida sun. It has not faded and is not worn out. It looks very real and has tricked even some of our family members that are cops. The only issue is replacing the batteries every 2 months, other then that its perfect. We plan to get about 3 more of these models and mix in some real ones as well. With the economy going down the toilet (thanks to the Federal Empire) and crime increasing, you can never be too safe since things are only going to get worse from this point onward.

Looks Convincing, But Cover Falls Off
We purchased this outdoor fake security camera just as an added measure to dissuade juvenile intruders at one of our properties. It looks quite convincing when mounted high enough over the front door that people cannot see it up close. It has a perpetually blinking red light in what looks like a lens, which helps. However, unfortunately, the sliding cover that is supposed to slide over the battery compartment on top of the camera had no stops on the camera we received. It slides right off the camera, and there is no way to make it stay on. We had to use duct tape in back and hope that holds it. Either the one we received was defective, or the camera is manufactured in a bad way -- so that the cover may be prone to slide off, with no way to attach it to the camera. For an item of this price, it is too much trouble to pack it up and ship it back. The seller should replace a defective one, without the need to ship it back.

Good little unit so far
Due to some recent break-ins, purchased and installed one of these at the back of a detached garage. Am pleased with how authentic the unit looks from a distance and the red-blinking light.Up close it looks pretty cheaply made. Comes in a plain box with no instructions, but does include screws and plastic inserts for use in the wood to control expansion. That last part is a nice touch. From a deterrent stand-point, the cheapness factor does not come into play. (Who cares if it looks cheaply made up close when it's realistic from a distance?) Where the cheapness factor does come into play is the battery cover. May be my unit, but had a fair amount of difficulty getting the cover to align properly and close.PROS - Visually highly realistic. Compliments bronze/brown house paint well. - Red blinking light. - Installation hardware. - Price.CONS - Battery cover seems cheaply made.COMMENTS ON COMMENTS - Some claim company is shipping a different unit. Not mine. Received the same product as pictured on Amazon. - Battery life. Too early to tell how good/bad. Installed the unit one month ago and as one would hope the light is still blinking. - Sliding cover sliding off. Not mine. Nice interference fit. - Awkward position of battery cover. Agree, but where else could the manufacturer have put it? Think when time comes to change batteries, will simply unscrew the swivel pivot nut and remove the entire camera. If battery life is short and I tire of changing them, will likely go the no-light route.UPDATE: 04-04-2011-------------------First set of AA alkaline batteries lasted three months. Not bad when you consider the brightness of the light and blink-rate frequency.

not like the old days !
Put it this way I have been in the security business for years, and yes the dummie camera's of the past you could pick out in a heart beat, not no more if I put these on a table with the real thing, you would not be able to tell the difference, unless you actually picked them up and then the weight would give it away, well when you have one of these hung on all four corners of your house with a cue light blinking your neighbor will think you just spent a grand or so on a great system, 90% off all breakins our due to if you show a deterence factor, there going to choose the house that does not have camera's perring at them over the ones that don't every time. The Key to this product is you tell NO ONE ! they are fake you just tell them for security reasons it goes through your computer and you leave it at that, you would be surprised at the % of robberies started from your inner circle ,which means it's some one you bragged to about having this or that and service ppl you hire are amoung that circle as well, I can't stress enough about who you TELL that they are not REAL and make sure you keep up on your batteries as they will start fading in about 3 months, I had customers that could not afford the real thing and sold them these instead ,and have had several call me back and say our neighborhood just got hit and they hit nearly every house or shed in the back yard but there home !!! and there neighbors on each side of there home as well were not touched probably in fear they would get caught on camera, so the proof is in the pudding ,you add some window and door decals and a yard sign and I promise you it will make the DIFFERENCE! as once again deterrance is 90% of the battle so for this price you woould be a fool in these crazy times not to set your home up with a dummy that does not look like a dummy, the only dummy is the guy who is not taking precations to appear or truly have a system of some kind. so these bullets style camera's are some of the best I have seen and the even have a cable that make's it appear that it's wired into your home so you can't go wrong, not buying them is just plain foolish at these prices with a 18 % national crime rate since 2008, this alone tells me what the future is bringing, so give your self a fighting chance !
