Lot of Power - Small Package
I have a couple of the larger Vornado fans. The idea with the big Vornados is the blades are designed to create a tightly focused, intense stream of air that then moves a long way without coming apart. Basically, you can put a big Vornado on the floor, aim it up at the middle of the ceiling, and the effect is very similar to having a ceiling fan in that room. When that tight, coherent stream of air hits the ceiling it basically explodes out in all directions and pushes the air back down all around the room, with the effect feeling very similar to a ceiling fan. For a room where you can't or don't want a ceiling fan, the Vornado fans are a great choice. Now imagine that same basic design has been shrunk down into a slightly smaller package, without the ability to aim it at the ceiling. That's what you get here. This fan is enormously POWERFUL for its size, with the same kind of tightly focused, intense power you get from the bigger Vornado fans. In fact, in a smaller room, if you turned it all the way up and figured out some way to point it at the ceiling, you could probably get that same kind of pseudo-ceiling fan effect. That's how much oomph it has. I bought it to take into work and set it on my desk a few feet away from me. Turned it on low. Wow, too much. Then I moved it back, then I moved it back again. It is now about 5 feet away and even on its lowest setting, it gives off a very nice breeze. It is very quiet on the lowest setting, still pretty quiet on medium. High is noticeably louder, but it moves so much air on the lower settings, I cannot imagine I'll need to run it on high much at all anyway. It seems fairly solidly put together, with the switch, the case and the base and so forth exuding the feeling that they aren't likely to fall apart anytime soon. It is not overly large and the simple, clean design is very unobtrusive for an office environment. The knob to turn it on and set the speed is somewhat awkwardly placed on the back in the upper right hand corner. It is easily reached from behind the fan, but when the fan is tucked into the corner, it isn't the greatest. You also turn it on by moving from off to high, then medium, then low. It would be better if it went the other way, since I cannot imagine there are many people who want a little fan like this to regularly run on high given its power. The power cord could be a little longer as well, but it isn't horrible. The fan does point up slightly when resting on a flat surface, so as the distance from the fan grows, the point of maximum airflow rises. That is good if you want to put it on the floor in a larger room and have it blow on you while sitting on the couch a good distance away, but could make optimum placement more complicated in some tight spaces, since the fan itself is not adjustable in any way, you decide where the air goes by positioning the fan itself. This isn't a problem for me but it could be for some. If you are looking for a small, non-adjustable fan with a lot of power, it is hard to go wrong here. I cannot believe how much more power this thing has than the cheap, basic desk fan it is replacing. If you don't need an adjustable head or oscillator, this is a quality product.

Awesome Little Fan - Vornado 573.........
I bought this fan in June of 2015, a year later and we're still reaping the benefits (Vornado 573). I'd never heard of the Vornado brand prior to doing some research and reading reviews here on Amazon. Now I see why they are so well rated... We use this little fan daily. Through the winter months we used it on it's back (it has feet on two sides) to curculate the heat in the room back down towards us. The rest of the year we use it upright and it is always on at night in our bedroom. On low, it's perfect for white noise (in my opinion, my husband likes it on medium but my hearing is also better than his, lol). When it's hot, we use it on medium or high and turn up the radio or TV. It's not loud on medium but on high it does make some noise. It's definitely quieter than other fans we've owned, producing much better action too. What's awesome about this fan is that it's not designed to be pointed right at you. It's designed to be pointed towards a clear space and it moves the air around in the room. It doesn't make it feel windy by any means but it works so regardless of where you're standing, in a small room, you'll feel the air moving. If you want something for a larger room, I'd suggest getting a higher end model. This works in a larger room but not as well or only with other fans running simultaneously. I definitely recommend it though and feel it's better than anything else in it's price range, even fans that are much larger. After a year of use, it's still working beautifully. I'd buy it again and whole heartedly recommend it to others. Well designed, well made, and works better than expected. Smile. Hope this is helpful!

Awesome Fan
Pros: Do I ever like it. Does just what I need it do - only a fan with a spiral grill and enough power can change the air direction of my a.c. enough so that it's not in my face when sitting. Fan has to be able to run on high 24/7 in the summer. It also helps my a.c. to not suck back in it's own cool air. The Vornado doesn't throw hardly any vibration. Well balanced and high quality. I prefer the switch be on top or on the side, but it's still easy to use. White noise on high is normal and quiet enough for my needs. It's not buzzy. Super quiet on med. and low. I like the flat panel design. While it has good air velocity, that it can "move air up to 60ft." is quite the claim. My apt. isn't 60ft. long, and I doubt I'd feel air blowing from one end to the other. Power is still good though. Cons: I was hoping for a ball bearing or permanently lubricated motor, not a square motor with bushings. When them square motors need oil, I have to use 10W-40; otherwise, they dry up too soon. Built in carry handle would be a plus. UPDATE 5-30-25: I have 2 of these fans. I rinse them clean in the shower and never had to lubricate them. They just run, run, and run. I changed stars from 4 to 5. I now have 5 Vornado fans that are all 4-5 stars.

Small, simple fan but you may want a larger Vornado model
This is my second Vornado fan. The first I purchased two years ago, when I lived in a loft-style apartment that had central AC, but needed some help pushing air around the oddly shaped apartment. When I moved back home, my mother borrowed it, and she loved it so much she never gave it back. That particular fan was the 630, the larger, more expensive model with the adjustable tilt. However, since this one was priced so well and seemed only a little bit smaller, I went with this one. I have this going in my bedroom right now, and it does push air around well, however only on the two higher settings. The low setting is very quiet, and doesn't create much of a breeze. The medium level is about as loud as a standard oscillating fan would be, the high setting is very loud. So it depends on how you want to use it. My mother likes her fan for the white noise in her bedroom and doesn't mind the noise. I also don't really mind, but it could be troublesome with trying to watch tv or something like that. It does not adjust, it only has one direction, at a slight angle up, and needs to sit on a table or something elevated to hit at the proper height to circulate air. It also has padding on the back so you can tip it over and use it pointed up at the ceiling, but again it would need to be on a desk; there isn't a lot of room for it to suck up air, so I wouldn't trust it on carpet or any flooring it could sink into. This is a good model and the reviews are accurate- it's a great little fan. But having used both fans, I would recommend the larger model for any room larger than a small bedroom. The mid-sized model has quite a bit more power and is less noisy. On high it cooled my whole living room, and on low/medium it cooled my bedroom. This smaller model needs to be on high to do very much. I will be taking this to work to use in my office, where I think the size will be perfect. For around the house, though, I'll be going back to the 630.

Vornado Hands Down The BEST Fans Money Can Buy.
As far as fans go Vornado stands alone not just with their patented air flow technology - but the company's long time contribution to history. In the 1920's it was Vornado that developed the technology to make the propellers of fighter planes, faster and more efficient. The company played a major part in developing a new era of aerodynamics that made our planes a formidable force against our enemies during the war.In the 1940's, The company used it's patented designs for fans for both home and commercial.Unlike typical fans the Vornado forces a column of air with tremendous force. Vornado fans should be pointed at the ceiling or at an angle hitting the highest corner of the wall where the wall meets the ceiling. This forces the air to literally explode - filling the entire room with a refreshing cool and constant breeze. The effect is much like a large ceiling fan. For decades we've used the whole room full size models, prior to having ceiling fans installed. However, we still us them, especially in the dog days of summer as they disperse more cold air from the A/C and make running them more cost efficient. Vornado Fans are hands down, the best on the planet. This small table top model is no exception. It's amazingly strong considering it's small size and move air up to 60 feet. It doesn't pivet like the larger fans but can easily be pointed to a wall for the same effect.I'm using this as my desk fan and it's wonderfully effective and like all Vornado fans it's extremely quiet. Ten Benefits: 1) Solid Build Quality 2) Small Foot Print 3) Patented Vortex Technology - move an incredible 60 feet of air 4) Ultra Quiet 5) Unique, Patented Design 6) Cost Efficient - Saves Money On Cooling Costs 7) Easy to Clean 8) 5 Year Warrantee 9) Made In The USA 10) Impeccable Customer Service Vornado fans are remarkable - once you use one, you're hooked for life. Owners are loyal to Vornado because the product delivers exactly what it promises. You can buy a Vornado with the total confidence of knowing you're buying the best there is and with reasonable care the fan should last you a life time. This fan is a tremendous value and you're bound to love it. If you're Prime member this item is eligible so you'll get free two day shipping to boot. Making this deal that much sweeter.

There is no other fan
I have had nothing but excellent experiences with Vornado fans and space heaters over the year, so when it came time to shopping for a table fan for my work area the choice of brand was clear ... but which model to buy? I have to admit that price was my main consideration, and when this particular model arrived it looked rather smaller than I was expecting. But wow, does it pack a punch. Even on low speed, it cools my space considerably, especially when placed on the inside sill of an open window to draw cooler air in from outside. And on particularly humid (or, these days, smoky) days when I have to keep the window closed, it does an excellent job recirculating the air of my room (which has 12 foot ceilings) to keep things comfortable. The noise level is perfect: just enough to provide some masking of external sounds, but definitely on the quiet side. The build quality is what I've come to expect from Vornado. And like I said, their customer support is excellent: the two times I had to file a warranty claim (both for space heaters which were hitting the five year mark), the folks who assisted me couldn't have been more helpful and replaced both units quickly and easily. When it comes to fan and heaters, why would you choose any other brand?

Looove this little powerhouse!!
Great fan and the size is perfect for small spaces. My only complaint is it’s hard to clean. You have to take the whole back apart and there are multiple screws.

ONLY QUIET ON LOWEST SPEED which doesn't move much air
I bought this fan because it is promoted as being unusually quiet and yet moves a lot of air - quietly. Well it can move a lot of air for it's size but that only occurs at medium or high speed where it's just as noisy as my much less expensive Honeywell TurboForce HT-900 Fan which at $12.79 is nearly 1/3 the price and unlike this fan, can be adjusted to blow at different angles. I decided to measure the noise levels it emits at different speeds using my Extech sound meter. All measurements were at 1 foot, C weighted and repeated 3 times to assure accuracy. I placed the fan in my stall shower for it's sound reflective properties so I could measure the noise the fan makes at different speeds, not the sound of the wind blowing over the microphone. To avoid wind noise, I placed the microphone 1 foot behind the fan so most of the noise measured was reflected not wind noise. At LOW speed I measured 62dB MEDIUM speed measured 69dB HIGH speed measured 73dB As dB is logarithmic, every +10dB = 2x the perceived loudness. So from LOW to HIGH it gets 2x louder which is a significant measurable increase in the loudness of the fan, even when you increase the speed to medium and yes, it moves a lot more air at those speeds. If your needs are only for mild/gentle air flow, then this fan will work for you but at higher speeds it isn't "quiet". To move more air quietly, buy a bigger fan such as the Honeywell HT-908 (12" blades) for $19.99 and use the lowest speed.
