Excellent Corkscrew, Well built, high quality
This is a great corkscrew set, beautifully packaged in a sturdy box that we have been using to store the corkscrew in and it is built very well. I have no complaints, it opens wine bottles with ease and without any mess. We ordered this after I used a cheap corkscrew (the kind with a screw coming from a T-handle) to open a bottle of wine over the carpet. Not smart I know, my wife was happy with me. I supported the bottle, pulled steadily and when it popped out wine went everywhere. This one is so simple, as you screw it into the cork, the handles pop out and then you push the handles down to force the cork out of the bottle, no mess. It is all metal so it doesn't feel cheap and works very well. There is a bottle opener built into the handle which we rarely use, I think I used it once when I couldn't find the other cheap magnetic one that we normally use. The metal stopper is nice as well to help left over wine stay fresh, it is only a stopper though so I don't know how effective it is, certainly better than leaving it open I'm sure. I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

nice corkscrew for the price
After using a lot of grocery store bought wine corkscrews, one the corkscrew came out and was stuck in the cork, and another one the arms broke off so I couldn't get the cork out, ended up cutting the cork out and filtering the wine. So on to the review, first of all Precision Kitchenware shipped very quickly, I received the item on time and packaged well. The arms on the corkscrew are wider and therefore fell stronger then the ones I had and works well. It's all metal construction so it does feel sturdier then the previous two I bought at the grocery store. The cork stopper is a bonus item, which if you're going to drink the wine in one evening is easy to use and does seal well enough.

Efficient and easy to use.
This corkscrew works great. It's easy to use and requires no pulling or fighting with the cork. It has nice weight to it and does not feel cheap whatsoever. All this for about 12 bucks is an amazing value. The bottle stopper is also very nice and works quite well. I prefer the sweeter wines which tend to lose their flavor quickly after opening. With the stopper they definitely keep their sweetness longer than they do when just stuffing the cork back in. All in all I would definitely recommend this for anyone who needs a decent corkscrew and doesn't want an electric one.

This corkscrew means business
My old corkscrew of the same ilk broke at the screw. My new corkscrew arrived just AFTER I tried opening a gift bottle of Hungarian Tokay (which must have been stored standing up since the cork disintegrated half way through) with the little corkscrew I keep in my purse. The tokay tasted like sorghum syrup with a nuance of burnt toast, garnished with cork crumbles. I sent it down th drain. So I was absolutely ready for a better wine and my new corkscrew, neither of which were disappointing. This corkscrew is somwhat larger than my old one -- and seemingly more rugged. Also, it has a sharp tip and sharp threads. This corkscre means business, so now I can approach corks with confidence. Also, the bottle topper that arrived with it is truly handy. Once the bottle's opened, it's easier to deal with that topper than the cork. I'm happy now.

Bewildered by the positive reviews
This wine opener is HORRIBLE. I cannot understand how there are any positive reviews, and assume they must all be fake. I bought this to replace a wine open we'd had for years that finally gave out. I was hoping to buy somewhat of an upgrade, and was willing to spend a bit more- but couldn't seem to find a product that fit the description on Amazon. We attempted to use this item 3 different nights, before sending it back. The first night, the clear plastic inside suctioned to the bottle and we couldn't get it off once the cork pulled out. When we finally did, the white plastic liner remained on the bottle. I ended up pouring the wine with it attached and my husband dealt with it later, it took a tool to get it off. Night #2, the same thing happened. On the third night, my husband attempted to open a beer and the entire bottle opening unit bent in half. Back to Amazon it went. I was really quite surprised, I have come to trust Amazon and their quality reviews- so it really threw me off that I would be sent something of such low quality. I ended up finding a really nice OXO opener for $19.99 at Target that we are very happy with. It's more substantial and a bit more elegant than our previous opener.

Lasted a while with little use, then snapped
The corkscrew serves its purpose and seems great quality so far--very easy to use. I love the wine stopper that came with. It works for the average wine bottle and even for bottles of sparkling cider. I imagine it will similarly work for champagne bottles, but I haven't tried it yet. I will update this if anything else comes up, but so far it was a great purchase.UPDATE: This lasted almost 5 years, but that is with little use and mostly from the corkscrew for wine. I went to open a bottle of sparkling cider today with the bottle opener (no, it wasn't a twist top), and it just snapped. Furthermore, it wasn't solid metal inside. It looks like it is some cheap mix that has bubbles in it and was coated with metal. I tried to get pictures of it, but I'm not sure you will be able to see it. Suffice to say that it is not solid metal inside and will likely not last many uses of opening bottles. I am taking stars off and going to try to contact the vendor. If anything comes of that, I will update this.

Sturdy and functional
Pretty basic corkscrew design - this one is very sturdy though and on 2 wine bottles, one actual cork the other the plastic rubber cork, it did fine. About 2/3 mm were left in the bottle after the wings were completely down (which I find is basic with all of these types of corkscrews) just a little tug and wiggle gets it out. That is also after I twisted it down into the cork right up to the base. I cannot find another way to phrase any of this, I apologize. I do not use the stopper since I found a great locking stopper from the dollar store. I did notice though, the stopper ball came completely unscrewed from the pointy part - and even when I tightened it, never really is snug. I am unaware this will effect performance besides the ball completely falling off.
