Great Digital Drums For The Price
The media could not be loaded. The Pyle PTED01 digital drums work great. It's easy to program the way you want by changing the pad voices and midi note pad assignments. The USB port allows you to connect to your computer for midi sequencing inside your digital audio workstation software. There are five memory locations to store your own drum kits for the internal kits and midi kits. The drum sounds have cross switching for soft and hard hits on the pads which adds a nice dynamic touch. You can play along with the 100 built in songs and mute the kit performances in each song with the "Drum Off" button, also you can practice and control the volume of the accompaniment tracks. Please watch my video on how to setup the PTED01 to perform the way you like, and hear how the drum kits sound to make it easier for you to decide if the PTED01 is right for you. Great sounds, midi doesn't work very well though
At first, I didn't really like this very much and was put off by how much space it took up on my desk. But after the 2nd day of playing it, it's a pretty awesome piece of equipment. The sounds it has are very good, at least upon going through and testing various kicks. It's a solid sounding instrument. It doesn't make too much noise in the headphone out, either, which is good for my recording purposes. I think there is definitely something to be said for actually playing drum parts for songs, as opposed to letting a drum machine or virtual drummer do it all for you.The part that I don't like about it is the midi aspect. When I plugged this into my computer via USB, I excepted it to be better than it was. This, to me, is probably the biggest downfall of the machine. It still plays drum sounds when plugged in, much like a midi interface even. Also, it is WAY too quiet when functioning as a midi controller. I don't know if this is Logic's drum plugin's fault or what, but I found it better to record the line out through the headphone jack. This is kind of a shame because I could edit the drum rhythm had it played well through midi, as well as quantize and add "swing" to the groove this way, aside from also choosing specific kits or drum sounds. I haven't completely given up on the midi functionality yet, but it does seem to be more functional using its own sounds.Overall, I think this is a really nice piece of equipment, and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone pretty much.

Decent Kit
I really wanted to like this drum kit. In general, I’ve now tried three Pyle drum kits, the PTED 01 the PTED06 and the PTED09. This one is the 01 and it comes in two different versions one with a dial button and one with a picture of the kit that lights up when you hit the various Drums or symbols. The biggest turnoff for me was the volume. This kit is significantly less loud than any of the other tabletop kits that I have tried. I especially didn’t like the fact that when you switched to batteries, the level of sound on the kit only goes to 11 versus 16 with electricity. Even at level 16 this kit was nowhere near as loud as the other table top kits made by Pyle as well as Konix or Yamaha. There were a large number of kit sounds to choose from as well as the sound quality was very good for a tabletop kit. So if the volume is not an issue for you, then this could be a good kit for you.

Perfect gift for my son!
My son is only a toddler, but he is obsessed with music, especially drums. We have been trying to slowly introduce him to real instruments, instead of "kids" music toys as he has been growing up. For Christmas, we wanted to get him a drum kit to replace his 5-gallon bucket drums, but were concerned that it would be too loud as he is learning to play. We bought this unit based on the great reviews, its small footprint, the logical pad layout, its foot pedals, and its ability to control the volume. He has only had it a few days, but he loves it...and I have to admit, I love it too! This drum kit sounds amazingly real and the speakers are clear enough to fool the ear if you were to listen from another room. We set it up on a small coffee table, and he has already pulled up his chair there as permanent fixture in our home! He loves to reach up to the dial to switch up the drum kits to get different sounds, and I love how simple it is to control the volume of his play. The pads are sensitive enough to respond to his little hands in the hand percussion mode, and the plastic seems durable enough to withstand his not-so-perfect aim with the drum sticks. Still is great shape and functioning after 9 months of use.We are learning to play together and we could not be happier with the purchase.

Very pleased with this unit.
I'm not a drummer. I received this yesterday and planned to take it camping, letting someone who knows how to play drums use it. I spent several hours exploring the features and was surprised at the options using the backing tracks. I ran the output through one of my guitar amps, and played my guitar through another amp. I find it to be a useful practice tool that is fun to use. I played for over an hour. The unit is sturdier yet lighter than I expected for this price. I like that I can turn down the volume on the music accompaniments, while the drums stay loud. I also like that one can see which pads are being played on the included backing track sound loops. Maybe I will learn some basic drumming after all.Cons: The instruction manual needs work. It appears that there are many options to set up the drums in various configurations with various sounds, but this was not very intuitive, and the manual was of little help, at least to someone who has little experience using drum machines.
