Very happy with this drill
Very reliable, comfortable to use, the drill bits stay in and don’t spin. This is an old school drill, with a cord and keyed chuck. I never have to worry about whether the battery is charged, tightening the bit is easy and the bit stays tight.

A great drill!
This is a wonderful drill. Thank you, Dewalt, for the keyed chuck!! Just, thank you!! To anyone out there who's a newbie to drills, get this one! The keyed chuck holds the drill bit in place. If you use a drill with a keyless chuck, the manufacturer will claim it makes it quicker to change out the drill bits. Technically, this is true, if you're changing drill bits all the time, and if every second counts. Otherwise, for goodness' sakes, keyless chucks are disastrous. Your drill will reach a point of not holding the bit, and you'll have to keep tightening it manually between drilling. It can actually become a safety issue. So that's one reason why this is a great drill!! Also, when I lay it down to put a different board into my pocket hole jig, this drill lies flat and does not tilt, which is good, because it's still spinning. This drill gets a lot of power, and I can tell an improvement over my old drill. Not sure if my old drill was always weaker or if it died over time. Another great thing about this drill is that it plugs in. To anyone considering a drill which charges, just consider the headache. If you have access to outlets, then get a drill which plugs in, like this one! If you're occasionally going to do outdoor stuff, then just buy a long extension cord. It will all save you the headache of charging something. This drill also is very ergonomical. It feels smooth and works smoothly. It even has a little hole on the cord for the chuck key. I love this drill.

Well designed basic drill.
Unfortunately, I had to give up on my older Porter Cable drill for lack of replacement parts. It was powerful and speed control was smooth at all ranges, though it was by no means light weight. The DeWalt that I replaced it with was full of surprises. It also has lots of power and speed control is smooth and positive like the Porter. It weighs much less and is convenient to use. I was impressed. I was looking for a high quality drill with a key-type chuck, and I think the DeWalt meets the goal. I need a chuck that will handle the load of a powerful drill, and I have not yet met a keyless device that can take the load. I do wish they would just provide the standard all steel chuck that we have used all these years instead of a combination plastic and steel chuck. I haven't had any trouble with it yet, but sometimes it isn't necessary to change what works. I hope it holds up. Overall, the DeWalt is a great drill and exceeds my expectations.

Excellent drill
This is an excellent drill, my fave so far, by far. I personally couldn't get used to the cord/chuck thing, I'm apparently a 'drop it' and keep going person, bc I was constantly losing the key. Problem solved by buying another one of these: https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-06528801-Chuck-Key-Holder/dp/B00B0Z07L6/ref=sr_1_2_mod_primary_new?sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sr=8-2

Plenty of power for home use. Heavy and sturdy
This is a nice, solid drill. I appreciate the keyed chuck, which holds bits nice and tight. Never have to worry about one slipping. It takes a few times to get a feel for how far you can depress the trigger to get a low speed before the drill totally takes off at its full, considerable power. This drill has more than enough torque for my purposes. I bought it for an AC bracket installation which included drilling holes through metal window frames and into wood beneath. Worked just fine there, but I haven't used it for anything else yet.

worth the cost
Best drill you'll find and worth the cost

Speed!
I needed a drill that had speed because no battery operated drill provides speed. This works great!
