Great for waterproof seaming of DITRA and DITRA HEAT
I used KERDI-BAND to waterproof DITRA HEAT seams over 3/4" plywood 16" O.C. and floor-to-wall transitions in a bathroom (with KERDI FIX against the tub and around the closet flange, with a dab in the corners where the DITRA HEAT met the vertical surfaces). Been in place for a few months, and I am under the impression that it will STAY water-tight. Nice system. I was so impressed and had enough left over from the bathroom to tile the inside of the front entry (we live in snow country) and the guest/visitor closet adjacent to the entry and underlay the tile with regular DITRA seamed with KERDI-BAND. Again, fast and easy installation, and it prevent ceiling stains from snow melt if the grout ever cracks or separates.

so much easier than cement board...
This stuff is great for DIY flooring.Just make sure you don't get carried away with the thinset underneath - it can lump up pretty easily - then you have to cut open the lumps, scrape and re-do the thinset (yeah, that was me - only two little lumps though...and they were easy to fix). You also need to work at getting the air bubbles out of the 'waffles' in the Ditra when you are putting down the tile. And definitely back-butter your tile. Best way to get 100% coverage and great adhesion. This stuff is thin enough that you don't have significant rises/step-ups when transitioning from other kinds of flooring. As for longevity? I had a pro installation about 5 years ago and the installer used this stuff - he was new to using it at the time. Did a beautiful job with porcelain tile in my entryway, which gets a lot of pretty heavy use. Iit has held up wonderfully. No cracks, no lippage....(well, he was a pro...)

Use proper thinset

Durable and strong for waterproofing
This membrane was easy to install for waterproofing my bathroom floor prior to installing the ceramic tile in my older house. The thickness was adequate for my needs and makes it seems quite durable. I also plan to use it when I retile the kitchen floor later this year.

Easy to Use - Waterproofs
This membrane is easy to cut to size and retains its shape. It is effective in "uncoupling" your tile from the subflooring. Plan your layout before installing to minimize cuts and the number of pieces used.

Great product
Light weight, easy to cut great reputation and a trustworthy product. This is expensive but you get what you pay for and when installed correctly you never have to worry about tiles popping up, cracking or the grout coming out from a shifting foundation. Worth every penny.

Just enough for .5 bath
(If you haven't already done your research to determine whether cement board or ditra is right, keep at it. It's a nuanced question having much to do with your space.) I appreciate the small size of this product packaging and not having to head out to big box retail for it. Knowing that this was just enough Ditra and when it would arrive allowed me to plan the rest of it and make the job start and end faster.

Easy to use, light weight
Compared to heavy, dusty backer board and other cement products, this is a breeze. It's super light weight and easy to move around the site. Not a speck of dust is generated. It's still hard work to install, as you're working with thinset (let's face it, floor projects of any size are a lot of work!), but the tools are minimal: tape measure, box cutter, marker, trowel. One thing we really appreciated is the fact that the Ditra gives you lots of straight and square lines to line up your tiles on; especially nice if you're working with a pattern and can't take advantage of a snap line. Unless you have callused hands to start with, you might want to wear some kind of fabric/padded gloves to protect your knuckles and the heels of your hands. Leaning on your hands on all those little waffle cups takes its toll after a while. Same goes for your knees. One big bonus: Because we used Ditra instead of any thicker options we were able to get our dishwasher back in place on top of the newly laid tile. If we had used anything thicker, this would have been impossible.
