Yes. You have to undo the hexagonal nuts on the lower perches.

Will these screw onto a pole?

No - but you could hang it from a pole if it had hooks!

Would this work with suet pellets?

I don't see why not – the container is just a transparent tube (rather than a mesh with holes), and the birds eat from two holes near the perches at the bottom. We have small seeds in ours, and it works fine.
