my advise to anymore to spent more and buy a good vacuum cleaner and stay far far away from this one. oh may i add they refuse to give me a refund, after i refund the product.

Just the right size.
Don't have stairs so can't say.Seems to do the job. I have a long haired collie and it picks up quite well.
