Good Book for the Price
This was the Textbook for my World Religions Course. The book is very well written and is a wealth of information. Note there is an additional website the, for a price, goes along with the book. I did not use the site as our instructor did not reference it and you are only allowed access for a period of time which, to me, made to cost quite high.

This book took on a daunting subject in a limited space and did it well. It actually made research a pleasure and was concise. It clarified a lot of fuzzy misconceptions without preaching. Price far below bookstore cost even with shipping included and shipping timely.

Book Condition
The seller was Spot-On with the condition of this book. I would buy from this seller again & again. The book is a great book to keep in a library due to its diversity and objective points of view on each religion.Taunya Hammonds

Religions ofthe world 12th editon
This textbook was very useful for my online course. I myself have gained alot of knowlege on other religions that I was not fully familiar with. The style of the text is not over my head and I was able to under tand and better grasp the concepts of the book and my current class. I understand the book is a brand new edition put it could have been maybe 20 or 30 dollars cheaper considering it is a paperback textbook.

I am not planning on reading it, for some reason when I put in a ISBN number this is the book that came up. I ended up having to purchase the right book later on.

Highly disappointed in a highly anticipated text
This book was used as the class text for a college World Religions class. I was looking forward to this class for a while because I felt this was an area where I had a lot of interest, and a lot of deficiencies in my knowledge of the subject matter. This book is just average as far as the writing is concerned, but it is the bias of the writer(s) that was so difficult for me to get past. The authors are obviously adherents of the Documentary Hypothesis school of higher literary criticism, and make no mention of this at any point, instead allowing the reader to believe that the "facts" presented are those most commonly accepted among scholars, as well as Christians. Even if this critical school is accepted, there should be some mention that there are alternative (and highly regarded) views. Instead, the one religion that I know extremely well - Christianity - is covered in a highly debatable manner. For example, all dating of particular writings - both Old and New Testament - is on the extreme end of late dating, classifying much of the Bible as incongruent with its contents. Also, the multiple-author view of Isaiah is presented as clear fact, rather than a highly debated topic. There are other problems, as well, but the main thing is that the problems with the treatment of Christianity made the treatment of the other religions suspect, as well. I couldn't trust the "Facts" about the religions of the world essentially unknown to me as a result of the poor covering of the one I did know. In the end, I used this book as a source in my many papers as sparingly as possible, and had to search for multiple external sources each time, all of which I found more useful than this text. I have no problem with a book that I don't necessarily agree with, as long as it covers alternative views equally, especially for a college text. This was a poor excuse for an upper level course text.
