Not for sketching crisp or fine lines. Get a pencil instead.
So... This is what it is. So I give it 4 stars. Nothing wrong with the product. Shipped fine, draws fine, is soft. But... It didn't really suit the purpose I wanted it for, and I have since purchased several different pencils that will get the results I am looking for.I bought this product in hopes that Icould use it to outline a painting on darker colored canvases before I started painting, so I had an idea of where I was painting before my paint touched the canvas. So basically I was looking to sketch on prepped canvas. This WORKED in theory because it's chalk. You can get THICK lines from this, and they wipe and wash easily, so that's as it should be. But you can never get crisp clear lines. You can't effectively sketch thin or clear lines with this. Doesn't even matter it you use the edge. This isn't really a reflection on the PRODUCT quality as it is a disclaimer for those looking for what /I/ was looking for but there's nothing that defines what it can't do in the description (Duh, who sells a product by giving you a list of what it can't do) Just people should be aware, so hopefully this can help someone in the future. But it definately is easy as pie to remove from a dried painted surface with a damp paint brush. As a matter of fact, BLOWING hard on it pretty much removes it lol

Nothing more than really expensive chalkboard chalk
I'm a sidewalk chalk artist. I use a lot of different types and brands of chalk, some of it sidewalk chalk, some pastels, and some chalkboard chalk. The sidewalk chalk is used mainly as a primer and I depend a lot on pastels for my details and shading overtop of the sidewalk chalk and have had much experience with soft pastels. I am constantly looking for white chalk, as there is never enough for my chalk art. I bought this hoping it would be compact like the soft pastels and a better quality/longer lasting than the chalkboard chalk I'd been using for my white. Results: It is not compact like the soft pastels I'm used to. It is much more comparable to plain old chalkboard chalk. In fact, it has the same hollow sound when dropped on the sidewalk as chalkboard chalk has and aside from it being a long cube shape instead of a cylindrical shape, there really is no difference. I can buy a 12-pack of chalkboard chalk for the same price as this 3-pack. I will not be purchasing this again.

Good Buy
I was pleasantly surprise at how well these pastel sticks perform. Great value for the money. They are soft, opaque and apply smoothly. Just what I was looking for. Will buy again.

User friendly
Nice product.

Too hard!
It’s too hard, not soft at all, difficult to apply and leave lots of white powder on your artwork.
