Great quality
I have purchased multiple of these units so that there’s one in each bedroom at home and at my parents’. There are many fan sounds and they’re easy to pack. These work great for med-day naps and overnights for sound sleep. I can keep the volume really low and still hear things or turn it up to block out the world.

Perfect for box fan sleepers!!
THIS is what you want if you are a box fan sleeper like my family and I are. This noise machine offers several different fan and white noise sounds that are LOUD to drown out background noise. No longer will I have to drag around the box fan on trips 🙌🏼 I like how small it is, perfect for fitting in your suitcase and I also like that it just offers fan/white noise…no nature noises or lullabies. ✅Simple, ✅easy to use, ✅loud, ✅compact. I was a little hesitant about the price, but I promise it’s worth it!

HELPFUL TIPS... for the best sound machine.
UPDATE 2014-FEB-14 -- After owning the device a couple weeks, I had some realizations about why the Lectrofan is the best product. Other white noise machines often do not allow a very full range of pitch from high to low. The Dohm, for instance, does have a pleasing sound, but it is not capable of changing pitch too much, just muffling it really, changing the tone some too. Changing the pitch is the SMART way to block out particular sounds. If my roomie downstairs is listening to music from his cell phone or a higher pitched video game, turning the lectrofan on higher pitch blocks it out without having to blast the volume. If is he is blasting bass from his stereo, the lower pitches work better. The low rumbling of White Noise 1 (lowest Pitch) may have a pleasing sound (very much like "Brown Noise," a wonderful sound that many of you researching this topic have probably heard), but it will actually fail to mask many sounds that are higher pitch. Do not make the mistake of leaving it on the lowest pitch and just blasting the volume every time you need to block out louder noise. I suppose that white noise 4-6 would be the best general sound-blocking pitches for when you have a variety of noise in the environment. This kind of use is impossible with something like the Dohm, which I used for a long time before this. There are many sounds which the Dohm will never block without trying to use brute force with the volume (and it doesn't get anywhere near as loud as the lectrofan.) And the Lectrofan can be turned so loud that your room can sound like you are living under a waterfall or something-- so it can basically block out almost any environmental sound (though of course the reality will always be that you have to have it louder than the sound you are trying to block, which is the principle of all the sound conditioners. The point is that the sound is constant and you are not distracted by all the changes in noise.) -- I didn't think I would use the fan sounds too much- I just figured I wanted the white noise. The fan sounds are actually pretty nice. They are soothing and with no perceptible loop (lectrofan told me they were actually algorithms making the noise and not any recording of a fan.) The fans do have one issue that some people will enjoy and others will not, and most people may not even notice. They do have a repeating change in bass, which I notice more than others because I am neurotic about sounds. This change in bass will be more apparent if you have headphones on or earplugs in, but you might like it as a nice constancy. I doubled up on the lectrofans so I could get a richer sound in my room (which is very cool for white noise), but unfortunately the wobbly bass sound of the fans becomes even more distracting then. Others may enjoy this. The major downside of the fans is that they do not have the same range in pitch as the white noise, so they can not do the targeted kind of sound-masking I described above. I suspect people who are not very sensitive or neurotic (i.e., anal) about these kinds of issues will really enjoy the fans, though. I guess they are probably more realistic for having this trait. -- The white noise is pleasant. Higher pitches sound unpleasant at first, but give them a chance, maybe lower the volume. They end up sounding like fans, or rain, or a distant waterfall over time. I have the lectrofans in my room on white noise, but it still kind of sounds like the rushing of air or some other sound in nature with a similar pitch; the brain kind of fills in the gaps or hears what it wants from so general a sound. The sounds grow on you. Sometimes I will be sitting here hearing it as a waterfall, other times I will hear the same sound as air from an airconditioner or a huge downpour of rain. It is a really interesting phenomenon. Or maybe I am just crazy. -- The customer service was great. My first purchase would rattle when I turned the volume up to the highest levels. They sent me a replacement with two day shipping promptly with no questions asked. The new device gets VERY loud (way louder than the Marpac Dohm, it's main competitor) without losing quality. -- I owned a Dohm, but do not use it anymore. This device is more efficient, smaller, louder, and produces a better quality of sound and a wider range of sound. My Dohm started rattling after a few months and so I looked for a better product. Thank God this had been released recently.

Best white noise machine
Such a great noise machines, many settings for sounds type and volume, starts low, goes very high. This is my second one, so that my husband and I each have one if one of us travels. I also use it professionally, as a counselor, to give clients privacy. We lived abroad and in families spare rooms for two years during a transition, this came everywhere, on every trip. Essential for getting a good night sleep, wether your bed partner snores, or there is a loud train outside your hotel window. I'm a sensitive sleeper with fibromyalgia, so I never go anywhere without it. Company is really great. The power cord finally wore thin after three years and the replaced it free of charge, I received it within days. Well worth the price, a great gift too. One complaint, There is a big jump between volume about halfway through, wish there was more nuance to the volume, but otherwise this is a gem, and the jump in volume has never stopped me from using it. This thing lasts and lasts, far super to any other white noise machine I've tried.

Love this noise generator so much
The product works great, I love it, and this is a replacement for the one we had for almost 20 years. We love it so much and missed it when it died after nearly two decades of daily use. It has no lights, so it keeps the room dark. It is compact, takes up little space, and is beautifully designed. The problem we ran into was getting it here. Simple to plug in and use. I can never recommend enough. (So many issues getting here, two times canceled because they lost it.)

Good volume, speaker quality could be improved
I’ve tried lots of white noise machines and this one is tied for my favorite with “Dohm” with the main difference being that the Dohm uses a fan to physically move air to create white noise, while this “lectro-fan” Is essentially just a speaker. The lectro fan is a bit louder and being a speaker it has a wider range of sounds/tones. I tend to only use the deepest tone of white noise, but the fan sounds are good as well. My only reason for 4 stars is the speaker quality. At higher volumes on certain settings, the speaker begins to crackle as if it’s being overpowered. This is an issue that doesn’t exist with the Dohm’s fan, however the Dohm doesn’t get quite as loud or offer different sounds. Summary: if you’re looking for the loudest white noise machine without worrying about sacrificing sound quality, go with the lectrofan. If you’re looking for the best possible sound quality but don’t need it to be as loud as possible, choose the Dohm.

Perfect!! My son and I sleep far better and no more high heating bills
I bought two of these for Christmas. One for my son and one for myself. Where we live, it's quiet. Too quiet. Trying to fall asleep to nearly complete silence is rough. We both used to run box fans just for some noise, even in the winter. Summertime, sure a fan running is nice. But in winter, they add a chill to the bedrooms and add to our electric costs for both running the two fans and for the added cost of the furnace running overtime to reheat the rooms. Since we have been using these our electric bill this year has dropped $152 from last year for the same time period but the outside temp has been 2 degrees colder this year over last. So, by using these instead of a real fan, I have already saved more than the cost of the two units in only one month. That's a win-win in my book. VOLUME: As far as the unit's volume. The volume is excellent. The volume controls are easy to access and the volume ranges from nothing to uncomfortably loud. So, yeah this unit has very good noise levels, unlike a unit I had for my son when he was little that couldn't even be heard when his door was closed. The speakers on these units are very well made. SOUND: The sounds in this unit are both varied and pleasant. The fan sounds do sound just like a variety of fans. There are no makers as to which type of fan it is, but most people know the sounds of the different fans by experience alone. The white noise sounds are also excellent. They are similar to the fan sounds but not so distinct a sound. All sounds whether they be fan or white noise NEVER have a repeating session. Nothing worse than those "nature sounds" units that each sound only lasts for so long and then the sound suddenly cuts to return to the beginning, Those types of units only keep a person awake, waiting for the end. at which point of you are almost asleep, you will naturally wake back up. These units don't have that issue at all! These Adaptive Sound units never have those horrible sound stops and starts that will only keep you awake. These sounds run continuously. QUALITY: I was impressed with the packaging and the unit. A lot of care was taken in both. The unit appears to be very well made. The controls are easy to work and should last years. The unit is a nice size and doesn't take a lot of room on the nightstand. They are a nice hexagon shape and color that won't look unsightly in your decor. The bottom contains a wire guide to keep the wire contained and running from the plug to the back of the unit as to not bunch up under the unit allowing the unit to sit well on the table. OVERALL: I had hesitated to buy these for a long time because I had a very expensive unit for my son when he was young that I was unhappy with for multiple reasons (too large, not enough volume, speaker of low quality, the sound would stop and restart from the beginning again, waking him up. etc. Not to mention other people's reviews of similar units. However, when I caught this on a sale and was looking at another winter of high electric heating bills, I went for it. I AM SO GLAD I FINALLY GOT THEM. Cons: None Even after running these every night for over a month now, neither one has had an issue. My son runs his during the day as well while he plays his video games in his room. Never an issue and not a single thing I would change about them.
