Takane High Torque Clock Movement 718HT 17-1/2" Hands USA Kit DIY Wall Clock

The clock movement seems to work fine. I attached this to a scrap piece of wood and ran the clock for a week. The minute hand does move slightly every second. If you are within 2-3 feet of the clock you can hear that movement. After doing a current draw test I estimate that the battery will last about 35 days. Of course, that will depend on your choice of batteries. My only issue is the way the hands were packaged. They were attached to a long piece of cardboard with rubber bands and the hands moved during shipment causing the minute hand to bang against the end of the box and bend. I had to be bent minute hand back straight.

Came wrapped and packaged as expected.Upon initial inspection the hands feel cheap, they are some sort of plastic. I hung them on my walls, and they look great. MANY people have come over and commented on how nice they look and I they do not look cheap.The clock keeps great time.The only (slight) complaint is the black box, as seen in the picture looks a little gaudy. But I believe that it is there to help you mount some sort of backing for the clock hands. We are choosing to not put a background to it, so it looks a little bit much. No one notices that part of it, and it really only bothers me every 100th time I look at it.Great product. I'd definitely purchase it again and recommend.

Overall, I'm happy with this purchase and it keeps accurate time. The hands are thin and somewhat bendable, which is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars-- but if you are careful when assembling, it is fine once it is on the wall. Nice for a big wall clock.

The product itself met my expectations. It did, however get delivered slightly damaged. The end of the minute hand got bent during shipping. I tried to straighten it, but it didn't turn out very well. Since I planned to trim the hands to length anyway, it was not an issue for me.

The first mechanism didn't work, the company replaced it. It works but it eats batteries quickly. I love the look and style however!

This design is horrible. The clock hands are so heavy and flimsy that there is NO WAY to make them not hit each other on the way around. The larger hand is weighted on the bottom, so actually when it gets to about 5 after the hour, it drops down to 10 after. We had another one before this that was awesome, and lasted for many years. This one has been up for one day and I have to get rid of it. Grrrrr.....

Worked for about a year and one day just stopped. I tried new batteries, different brand batteries, rechargeable and non rechargeable, tried ac battery adapter, etc., but this thing is completely dead. So I guess you'd be paying over $30 for a small cheaply made "high torque" clock motor that has a lifetime of around a year. I wouldn't recommend this item.
