9/12/18 Update: Still use and like this product, and as noted in my original review, I bought another. However, the power usage feature died on both units after a short period of time and I found no way to contact the seller to get them fixed or replaced. Yes, the core functions still work, but the power usage feature is what differentiated it from other similar products, so I am decreasing my rating.====================================================This is a fantastic product! We control it both with Alexa and the phone app. I like the Smart Life app as well. The ability to measure and track electrical usage is a great additional feature.I bought one for our Christmas tree lights, sort of as an experiment, but after using I am going to buy more. There are just so many uses that have come to mind after having the experience. For example, we have lights strung around the perimeter of our backyard, which are plugged into a detached garage. Now I will be able to turn them on from the house through Alexa or anywhere through the app. We also have an attic fan that we use rather than air conditioning during the summer, but it requires going to our third floor to turn on. Now we can not only do it from anywhere, but put it on a timer, etc.

Apparently, Amazon and the smart line, don't play together anymore, and the alexa will not control this device. It can only be operated remotely by logging onto your phone or tablet, pulling up the app, and hitting the switch. What a hassle and waste of money.
