I also have a question. I'm from Africa and would like to use Old Bay as a base to make my own seasonings. Can I do this? I'll make mention of Old Bay or not based on your recommendation

Can you use it for seafood boil? What would be a ratio? 1 pound of seafood and how much of the seasoning?

Absolutely!! I can't give you an exact ratio because I'm in the "more is better camp" when it comes to Old Bay. I cover the top of the water with Old Bay in my stock pan when I poach shrimp along with between 1- 1 1/2 Tablespoons of peppercorns and a lemon cut in half. For a Shrimp Boil, we used 1 lb shrimp, 1/2 lb sliced andouille sausage, 1 lb baby red potatoes and 2 ears of corn, cut into chunks, juice of 1 lemon and 3 Tablespoons Old Bay and 3 Tablespoons of melted butter -salt & pepper to taste. It also makes a great addition to cold shrimp salad. Enjoy!!

Delicious Seafood Spice/Flavoring

If you like spicy flavoring for your seafood (we use it on shrimp and crabs), this is a great product. I looked for this size in a few different local grocery stores but was unsuccessful. I tried Amazon and purchased this. It was less expensive than in the nearest Walmart that was still too far to go for one item. The expiration isn't until a year and a half from now, so this is 'fresh' product. We use this when we steam fresh crabs and a little on the side for dipping. Delish!

Delicious Maryland Staple

I sent this to my son, who now lives in another state. As native Marylanders, we put Old Bay seasoning on many different foods - crabs, potato salad, French fries. The seasoning is delicious and versatile. It smells good when you open the container. The quality is great. I highly recommend this!

Huge bin of Old Bay

What I like is that this 7.5 pound of Old Bay will last a couple of years and my sweetheart, who steams crabs the Baltimore way, will use it religiously!!! You can’t get this in stores in Florida! The price has gone up, but then again, what hasn’t gone up?
