Just get the Weber
I bought this for a Fourth of July gathering, and it's a keeper. I've tried to go with off-brands but the others had problems out of the gate. This is a heavy-duty little grill that really holds the heat. I've used another portable round Weber that was great as well, along with a standing round Weber grill that was top-notch. But over Memorial Day weekend, I bought a $20 knockoff from our local Kroger grocery store at the last minute, put it together correctly following the instructions, and the place for the leg attachments on the cheap one burned right through and it collapsed with the charcoal still burning in it. The cheap one was a complete waste of money as well as a fire hazard. Also I bought a no-name charcoal chimney here on Amazon and the handle melted right away. Thankfully this Weber does not have any of those problems. Lesson learned – just get the Weber in the first place and bypass the temptation to go cheap; it just isn't worth it.Assembly of the Weber was relatively quick – just put on the wire legs and the clip that holds them together, screw on the covers for the handles, then drop in the grate that holds the charcoal as well as the grill grate at top. I'd always recommend doing this well ahead of time, though. Once the legs are installed, they can be folding over the top to save just a little space. The surface area of the grill is pretty decent for a portable grill, but if you're doing chicken for say 5-8 people, you'll need to do a couple batches. There are a couple little hook-like projections in the lid, so you can hang it off the back of the grill if you like, but I didn't use them.I'd advise that you follow the directions and use only 16 charcoal briquettes. I thought, "yeah, right, manufacturers always try to make it look economical," and poured charcoal up to the top of my chimney anyway. While the Weber grill did hold all that hot charcoal, it kept the heat for more than 3 hours and I'm sure would have burned longer had I not poured water on it--it was the only way I could think of to stop the charcoal before calling it a night. The directions say not to place the grill on anything combustible. I used a plastic folding table with a thin, fire-resistant mat between the table and grill (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D1G63YHP?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details).While there were no burn holes in the mat, the plastic table beneath melted. Oops. I should have used some sort of metal surface – didn't anticipate it being hot for hours. What was nice is that the Weber handles are apparently completely heat-resistant material, with no melting issues there at all. They do get hot, so be sure to use heavy duty oven mitts. This is a quality little grill and I wholeheartedly recommend it. I do not work for Weber, I don't know anyone who does, I'm not even sure where the company is based, but I would highly recommend skipping the cheap knockoffs and put your money into the Weber, because I just haven't found a decent substitute that was worth the money.

Whether for tailgating or for cooking for 2, this is great.
I love to grille. It's just me so I never purchased a grill since being single again, I figured why bother with such a big grill... I had also never used charcoal before so I didn't want to spend a lot for something I would never use if I didn't like it. This grill is perfect. I also started off this experience with Masterbuilt® Premium Hardwood Lump Charcoal and Kamado Joe Pure Paraffin All-Natural Odorless Wax Cube Fire Starters. While the first few times trying to light the charcoal without a chimney took me over an hour I have gotten much better at it. I don't fill the grill with the charcoal, I put in enough for one half so I have a hot and warm side. This thing is great for steaks, burgers, hot dogs, sausage, salmon, pork chops and most anything else I want to grill. When I am finished, I close up the side and lid vents and the fire suffocates and I can use whatever charcoal is left for next time. The handle gets a little hot so I use a pot holder. There are two little nubs in the lid that are supposed to hook in to the base for convenience but I don't use them that much. Assembly was quick and easy too. I will most likely get a bigger one down the road, but for now this is perfect for me.
