Works great... except with its own brand!
I bought this remote for my girlfriend, who recently acquired a Samsung TV and Sony blu ray player. The Samsung's remote was lost in a move, so we needed a good universal remote to control it. I figured that I could kill two birds with one stone if I bought a Sony remote and program both her TV and her blu ray player. Make sense, right? So, I go to program this thing, using the long list of 4-digit codes programmed to control various brands and types of equipment that the remote came with. It took me all of 5 minutes to find the right code for the TV, and it worked great. With that done, I moved on to the blu ray player. My first thought was that a Sony remote would control it without programming (which I quickly found out was incorrect). I then proceeded to try all of the codes in the "DVD Player" section, under Sony (there was no blu ray section). Not one of them worked. I tried them all again, careful that I hadn't made a mistake in typing them in. Having no success, I tried all of the sony codes under every other kind of input, just to be sure; CD Player, Tape Player, Mini-Disc Player, Home Theater, etc. Nothing. I find it very hard to believe that Sony would have come up with a new blu ray player with a remote code that their own universal remotes couldn't control. Searching through the troubleshooting section of the remote's instruction manual led me to the instruction that 'if none of the codes for your product work, do [this code combination], and use the channel button to cycle through ALL of the codes, pressing the power button after each channel press to see if it is the correct code.I promise you, I tried everything and with no success. My girlfriend insists that she can just use the new remote for the TV and keep using the blu ray player's remote, but its the principle of the thing! I can promise that I will be much less likely to choose a Sony universal remote from now on, ESPECIALLY if I have a Sony product that I want to control!

Use it mainly for sleep timer function
We recently bought a Sony KDL40W5100 for use in our bedroom. Nice TV, however there is NOT a dedicated sleep timer button... bummer. I saw this remote on Sony & Amazon sites. It has a sleep timer and also has been programed to run basic functions on the DISH 722K DVR. The remote is a bit bulky, but priced right & does the job requested.

Average Remote
This remote worked on an older Sylvania TV. I bought mine refurbished so I was a little concerned that it wouldn't work. Not the case. Works fine. Does what it's supposed. Doesn't come with batteries. The setup took 5 seconds, 10 if you count putting in AA batteries.
