Review The flow of information is excellent and the text is well-written... a good introductory text for undergraduates with an interest in cytology and for professionals in training. (Dr Lesley Walton, School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University)Lucid, logical coverage of material, set out thoughtfully and supported by good illustrations and learning features that make the text student-friendly... a very useful undergraduate cytopathology textbook. (Dr Nicholas Vardaxis, Endeavour College of Natural Health)Clearly written, factual and concise. (Patricia Gadsdon PhD, FIBMS, School of Biological Sciences, Bangor University)I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. (Jermin Simon, student, DeMontfort University) About the Author Behdad Shambayati is a Consultant Clinical Cytologist at Ashford and St. Peter's Cytology Department. Behdad was part time lecturer on the IBMS fellowship course at Bromley College of Technology from 1992 to 1996 (when the course ended), and is periodically invited to lecture for the BSc and MSc courses at University of Westminster, NESCOT and University of West of England. He regularly teaches Cytology on courses at Northwick Park Cytology Training School, Welsh Cytology Training School, Sheffield Cytology Training School and South West Cytology Training School. Behdad has been a member of the IBMS Scientific Advisory Panel in cytology since 1999, and is currently their Chief Examiner for cytology.

Very good all round Cytology Book - Recommended
Very good all round Cytology book.My only criticisms are as follows;Firstly - Cytology still has not moved on from the description of Candida as "spores" and sometimes hyphae (page 93). I am probably still over simplifying here but Candida is a yeast like organism and as such does not produce true spores. What are often described as spores are the adult organisms in a non-infective stage. When conditions are suitable, these adult cells produce pseudo-hyphae which then invade tissues as an infection. Reproduction isn't via spores but by cell division ("Daughter" cells "bud off" the adult cell).Secondly - I originally bought the book prior to a UKAS laboratory accreditation inspection in the hope that it would provide new supporting documentation for the choice centrifuge speed used during fluid preparation. It doesn't even suggest a speed at all. I have had to revert to an old version of LG Koss for this information. In fact a section on the areas of uncertainty in general for Cytology may be a useful topic for future editions of this book.I must point out, these are really very minor points and knocking a star off is probably a bit harsh of me.The book is still a valuable asset for any Cytology department and its design is excellent IMO. I would still highly recommend it.
