Be careful how you use it but works great
This has worked very well for my metal miniatures to give them a matte finish. I followed suggestions I found online to let paint dry for a week before using the Dullcote and had no problems with it lifting paint. I used it over a shiny varnish after letting the varnish dry for a couple days and had no problem with the varnish lifting. It left a nice matte finish over the shiny varnish. If you use it as a topcoat directly over paint and want to use it a day or so after letting the paint dry, I'd try it on a piece you don't care as much about or are willing to touch up first just to make sure there's no lifting. Otherwise, I'd suggest letting the paint sit for awhile. I also only have used this over acrylic paint on metal minis. I don't know if there would be any difference on a different type of paint or over a plastic base. For my purposes, I really like it and it does what it's supposed to.

Trash the spray can and get this instead!
I customize Nendoroids or BJDs, but I live in a very humid climate, it's almost never the right time to use spray varnishes. Every time I use the stuff, it's a downright nightmare and can be a costly mistake! Entire pieces ruined beyond repair. After ruining my last hair piece and having to buy a expensive replacement, I was scared to use any matte varnishes ever, period. Either way I was about to give up on doing heavy customs, before the miniatures community recommended this stuff. I decided what the heck, let's give it a shot. And let me tell you, this stuff is liquid gold, even with acrylic paints it applied perfectly, no frosting, no small specs, no graininess, no shine, completely perfectly matte. Blends perfectly with the vinyl plastic! I love it, it has made me hopeful for my future customs. The only thing is the smell, it's quite strong, so I recommend using a mask and closing the bottle right up after every use.

Good for protecting vinyl decals on plastic.
Used to coat and protect small vinyl letters on hard flat plastic video game system. Dried flat and almost invisible. Good protection. Perfect.

Good stuff
Worked like a Charm. My husband is a wood carver and was experimenting with a new painting technique on a caricature carving that he completed. The face turned out too shiny so he used the Dullcote and it made the face color look real. See the photo of the carving I'm talking about.

The Testors Dullcote is essential in model building to achieve different surface reflections. Take down a glossy surface to a completely matte surface. From semi gloss to almost frosted it can all be achieved with this coating, using different application techniques. It is permanent and quite durable.

Para mim é o melhor verniz fosco existente.

Unfortunately this product has been discontinued, as it was perfect. Crafters suggest buying a spray matte varnish, but that doesn't help if you want some areas shiny and others matte. Fine details are easy with this as it is a paint on product and a little goes a long way.

best matte lacquer for minis. Just make sure you use another semi-gloss lacquer first so your paint won't smudge. Testors can ruin a paint job if it's the first coat directly on paint.
