Excellent. It's wild mackerel; the best kind. With skin on, which I love because collagen resides in the skin -- and the skin is so thin you hardly notice it! The fish are tender but firm and cooked to perfection. Wonderful taste. It's a fav!

We love Wild Planet and trust their quality control of their product! Delicious, shelf stable, sustainably fished (therefore, sometimes there are shortages. You have been warned ; ) So we love this opportunity to buy 12 at a time and reorder when we have a few left and it's worked for us these past five years. Wish they did an Atlantic Mackerel packed in water, to maximize the Omega 3:6 ratio, but only their Pacific Mackerel is water packed and we prefer Atlantic sourced. It's fine, there is not much olive oil in the can at all and it drains off easily. Filets are clean and the cans are full. Nothing bad to say about this product at all. Cardiovascular and brain healthy fish that is at the bottom of the food chain so, no mercury like tuna, which is at the top of the food chain. I got this on sale but, at regular price, like in store, it is too expensive. If Amazon keeps it at that price, I might do more online orders. But, it is a good quality product. The tins are charming but, I am SO over the oily fishy mess they make when you peal the lid back. I wish some smart packaging designer would sell a clean to get off lid for sardines, mackerel, and other fish in a tin to all the major brands. Also, one that is 100% recyclable.

Whole Foods does not do a good job of keeping this product in stock especially during sales. They offer such a good sale price on it but good luck finding the product.

Convenient to have

Great flavor! Great for fish salads or sandwiches, and also great for making single serving fish soup. Just mash some up in a bowl or a cup, pour in some Imagine mushroom soup, salt to taste, maybe add some herbs and spices like onion, garlic, pepper, and maybe some sage or bay leaf, then toss it in the microwave. Great with some baguette bread, toasted, with butter and garlic. Great as a comfort food for lunch or dinner.
