Absolute must have item
If you make or repair your own coax, this is a must have. Once tweaked, it properly cuts and strips RG-8 coax perfectly for PL-259 and SO-239 connectors.

Tool works as described.
I had been using a utility knife to install PL259 connectors a tedious proccess but then I had 18 to do in one day this tool made it much easier and quicker.I would definatly recomend this tool.

Does the job.
Once you get the depth of the blades properly adjusted (plenty of trial & error here) this tool does a reasonable job of stripping coax cable prior to installing a connector. If I was a professional installer and needing this type of tool for every day use, I would probably purchase a higher grade tool with rollers on it. But for occasional use like mine (Amateur Radio) it seems to do fine. And while having a hex wrench stored in the body is a nice touch, I find it is necessary to have a second tool to pry the wrench out of the body of the tool. There is not enough space provided to get under the wrench to remove it if you have short fingernails.

Never could get it adjusted to be accurate
Bought this to put PL-259s on some LMR400 coax. This seemed like a good way to strip the coax. I practiced and practiced on a spare piece of coax, adjusting each time, and could never get it to cut each layer accurately. I eventually used it to score the insulation and when that was removed, I used a box cutter for the rest.

Not for LMR-400
This does not work for LMR-400 coax. The groove in the blade is too small for the core's diameter, and not enough outer insulation is cut with the blades spread out as far as possible.

Good stripper
This almost as good as the expensive times microwave stripper, it just takes time to tweak blade depth as not to cut through the shield. I use pliers to twist off the coax end because I adjust blade depth to score the jacket.

cuts cable
This cutter works great .I should have purchased one years ago. It makes putting on connectors so easy.
