Best overdrive I own - and I own an embarrassing number of them
This pedal is perfect. It's a crying shame that Earthquaker is discontinuing it. I think people just couldn't wrap their head around a pedal called "Speaker Cranker" that doesn't actually crank your speaker. It just delivers the breakup that your speaker would have if it WERE cranked.I shopped carefully for my guitars and amplifiers. I love the sound of all of them, but sometimes (often) I want a little more grit than my amps deliver at rehearsal / club gig volume. The Speaker Cranker is perfect. My guitars and amplifiers sound exactly like themselves -- but with the drive they'd have at higher volumes.I've bought an embarrassing number of overdrive pedals, and nearly all of them color the tone in some unwanted way. Speaker Cranker doesn't. The one knob is labeled "More" and I can see why they chose that word; Speaker Cranker adds the grit that your amp would have if you cranked it. But Speaker Cranker is not a boost, which is probably why the pedal hasn't sold a bajillion units. (Though to be honest, from about 3 o'clock to 6 o'clock, it does boost your volume some.)The pedal is thoughtfully designed. The large chicken-head knob is easy to adjust with your foot as you're playing,As I write this, Amazon has only one less-than-five-star review of the Speaker Cranker. The reviewer complained about a build defect. Did he miss the memo? Earthquaker fully warrantees all of their pedals for life. I once bought an EQD Bit Commander used. I had a problem with it, sent it to Earthquaker, and they fixed it for free.

Easy to use and sounds great
This is just the kind of overdrive I was looking for. It's so simple to use and sounds great. I like that I can have the effect just slightly up and it adds just a touch of grit to my signal. It doesn't alter the tone of the guitar too much either--no bass rolloff or strong mid boost. I highly recommend it.

I do not recommend this for rock and anything heavy
This is a low gain/transparent overdrive pedal design to go to the edge of break up. I can describe this sound as a Fender (Tweedish Amp sound)This is the simplest pedal to use for your need especially for rhythm, blues and country. I do not recommend this for rock and anything heavy. I do recommend The Arrows in front of this pedal to add more volume. (That too is a great pedal that pushes the volume of your sound).

Great sound but a defective build
The sound is like a 70s fuzz monster! I absolutely love this pedal; however, the one I got was a dud. It worked for about three sessions and the switch began to crackle on me. As I am not one to try my luck twice, I moved on to a different pedal. Totally bummed that an American made/designed pedal ended up crapping out.

Simple and cool
Sounds really good, has that sparkle you look in an overdrive. Its way simple to manage and you can go fron a sweet overdriven sound, or a heavy rock overdrive.

Perfect!
Quiet, simple. Not a flamethrower distortion but a VERY playable one. Works VERY well in the context of a band. Its super touch sensitive and it plays well with other distortion pedals both before and after in the chain. Wouldn't change a thing!

The best overdrive
It’s the perfect overdrive if you already like how your amp sounds but just want it to have a little (or a lot) more chest hair. It’s one of the few pedals I’ve ever bought where I was immediately happy with the sound. The LED is annoyingly bright even in a well-lit room, my only gripe.
