INCONCEIVABLE DESCRIPTION A mysterious young woman, Katie (Nicky Whelan), and her daughter move to a new town to escape her past and quickly befriends Angela Morgan (Gina Gershon), a mother of one who longs for a bigger family. As their lives become intricately entwined, Angela and her husband, Brian, (Nicolas Cage), invite Katie to live in their guest-house to serve as their nanny. Over time, the blossoming friendship between the two women spirals into a dangerous obsession as Katie becomes overly attached to the Morgans' daughter. Enduring lies and manipulations, Angela and Brian realize that sweet Katie is actually trying to destroy their family from within.

Don't you have to be smart to be a doctor?
"Hi, I know we just met at a public park, but would you be interested in moving into my mansion, being a nanny for my precious little girl -- and, by the way -- how do you feel about being our surrogate?" Yep...that's about it. Apparently there is one thing Gershon and Cage, a doctor duo, don't have (and they have a lot), and that's a second kid. They want this new kid so badly that they decide to pull a $40K surrogacy fee out of the bank while endeavoring to artificially inseminate their new house guest --a very willing and virtually homeless stranger/new best friend/single parent named Katie. Bang -- it all works flawlessly, and Katie is immediately pregnant. Without any kind of background check and after failing to ask for a single reference, they seem satisfied to be one big, weird blended family. Why are they so remiss in doing their due diligence? Apparently Katie fled her abusive ex and flies under the radar, and that's all Gershon needs to know before she stops asking questions -- and then, without even talking it over with her husband, she hands Katie the keys to the castle.Nicolas Cage (in a supporting role) and Gina Gershon (in a leading role) never seem to be doing much doctoring or parenting, but who cares? They are so smart and so successful that they have oodles of cash and live in a home that could be on the pages of Architectural Digest. So, why do these winners act like a pair of irresponsible morons?I get the feeling that we're supposed to be blown away by their happiness and wealth. After years of marriage, they still have a passionate romance going, and the biggest problem they regularly face is Cage's "abrasive" mother (played by Faye Dunaway -- the smartest adult in the room). I think Dunaway's tiny role required about an hour of her time. So, let's talk about the evil blond named Katie -- the nanny from hell who easily manipulates dumb and dumber in a matter of days. The first sign of Katie being "off" happens shortly after she's moved into their guest house. In all of her provocative glory, Katie decides to take a late night swim in their Olympic sized swimming pool, and Cage, who remains silent and in the shadows, happens to stumble upon the scene. He proceeds to take a long look at the topless and nearly naked Katie, but Cage is a good guy. Despite Katie's obvious intentions to replace Gershon, he remains faithful and clueless. After Gershon begins to have some latent suspicions (including overhearing Katie publicly refer to herself as Gershon's daughter's mother), she pleads with her husband to listen to the numerous troubling discoveries she's made about Katie. His response is to tell his wife to take a urine test to prove she's not on drugs. This was just a bad script, and with the exception of the actress who plays Katie, none of the principal actors seem artistically invested in the film. Gershon, Cage, and Dunaway are so much better than this.

Ridiculous Lifetime Movie
If you like Lifetime movies you might enjoy this one, if you don't skip it. Completely ridiculous.

Great Actors, Good Movie
I've been watching movies since this isolation from covid has been going on and it's hard to find really engaging movies that are free. This one has great actors and actresses everyone did a fine job. It's a pretty standard plot for a surrogate mother movie. You can guess and be right in less than 5 mins what's going to happen. Other than that the pacing was good for the good and bad mother roles. It took the adoption mother too long to figure out the surrogates intentions and had you going; Watch out!! Sheesh!

Great Potential but let itself down!
Wonderfully photographed and Great Locations. Story had great potential and it achieved some of it-the film could have been a whole lot better. I liked Gina Gershon she did do well with was on offer. Added to my collection and is one one of those films that I will see again some day.
