Best canned tomatoes I have ever tasted.

Alright, if I'm honest, I heard about these on the Ron Burgundy Podcast. He was interviewing a pair of chef's from LA and they talked about the wonders of these tomatoes. I bit on them and I've become addicted to very simple pomodoro sauce that lets the tomatoes shine. I'm hooked. Also, Kudos to Amazon. I bought 6 cans, one arrived dented and they refunded the cost for the whole case.

After watching a video from Bon Appétit with regard to making "the best pizza", I thought I would try their recommended brand of canned tomatoes. I hesitated because of the cost; however, I was extremely surprised at the difference between this and other brands. These are delicious and require little if any additions to them. I used my hand blender to make spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce and bruschetta. Wow, they all were family favorites. This will be my "go to" brand from here on. Love them!

I read about these tomatoes in a food blog about the best canned tomatoes. I decided try them to see if they were as good as the writer described. They really are. The taste is superior to other canned tomatoes. I will be buying them in the future.

THE CANS ARRIVED DENTED, TRIED TO RETURN BUT TOLD NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN

Determined to find the best canned tomatoes (my husband is Italian and I am a recipe tester and developer) I recently taste tested a number of brands straight out of the can.Thickness: Not as thick as some of the others I have tested but considering the flavor this didn't matter one bit. It is nothing that a tiny bit more simmering won't correct if one wants a thicker sauce.Sweetness: Just the right amount of sweetness. None of the brands have added sugar, the sweetness is from the tomatoes alone, but there was a huge variation in the natural sweetness between the brands. This one struck the sweet spot.Acidity/Sourness: Some of the tomato brands that I tested had no acidity or sourness, some had a lot, and one was just right. Along with sweetness, you do want some acidity, as that provides flavor. These had a tiny bit of acidity, just enough to balance out the sweetness.Overall: These had by far the best, freshest, most well balanced flavor of all that I have tested to date. They tasted like they were picked yesterday! These are some seriously good canned tomatoes, and I can't wait to recommend them to my Italian father in law!We had some canned tomato misconceptions that were thrown out after tasting this brand.My Italian husband tasted them all and had an initial (before tasting) preference to another brand due to the fact that they were canned in Italy, and these ones are grown and canned in California, but when he tasted them side by side he agreed that these were by far the best. Before I knew it he had taste-tested half the can lol!I had always read that San Marzano were by far the best, and always carefully checked that my San Marzano tomatoes were grown and packed in the San Marzano region of Italy, unlike some brands that call their tomatoes "San Marzano Style" but after tasting this brand of canned tomatoes, I have thrown that misconception out.I have a preference for Organic food whenever possible, and I didn't actually think that these were organic as it wasn't emblazoned on the front of the can as expected. It is however on the back, so rest assured these are non GMO Organic tomatoes.We were both blown away by the fresh, sweet, clean taste of these canned tomatoes, and will only order this brand from Amazon Delivery/Whole Foods in the future.For more canned tomato (and other ingredient) reviews, please see my profile.So far I have taste tested three brands side by side, and despite feeling that I have found the best, I will try other brands as I find them and will review them also. ...the cans were terribly dented, I assume in transport? They were shipped in a light weight bag.
