Another fabulous herbal book by SHB
I have long heard of the phyto-androgen aspect of pine pollen, but did not realize the many other benefits of this plant food. I was unaware of it's ability to lower bad cholesterol while raising good cholesterol levels, not was I aware of the anti-cancer benefits of this plant food. I was also surprised to learn about the typical use of pine pollen for skin conditions and anti-aging. This short book also taught me the difference between the use of the tincture vs powdered pine pollen.As always, Stephen Harrod Buhner teaches with humor and personal stories along with scientific data, historical information, and an overview of folk knowledge about this plant food/medicine across cultures.If you are interested in pine pollen at all, as food, medicine, or as a beneficial supplement for your garden, read this.

Good information on pine trees and pollen!
Although brief, the information provided on pine trees and their pollen was very interesting and useful. I would have liked to have read of other medicinal used of the entire tree.

Indepth study of an ancient medicinal
Excellent dual book of understanding. Easy for the layperson with chapters on chemical components for the compounding herbalist to fascinating sections for the nutritional ust and traditional herbalist to master herbalist.Easy reading with parts that some will either skip or wade through. If I were teaching; this would definitely be one of the texts that I'd use.

Too short, too little
While I have totally enjoyed other of Buhner's books, this one was disappointing. It contains a cute description of his experience collecting pine pollen, chapters full of the healthy molecules contained in pine pollen and their healthful effects (reads like the back of a bottle or a research report), a recipe to make pine pollen tincture and three recipes to use it as food in pancakes, etc. (hint: just replace some of the flour in your pancakes) along with a general thumbs-up for pine pollen. I was expecting more of the spiritual understanding of people and plants I found in his other books. I was expecting to hear about how he has used it and its results on real people. The book was short, way too short and most of it was the results of his research about scientific properties of same, stuff I suppose I could find on internet. It wasn't personal, it wasn't real and it contained far too little. But I will continue to read more of Buhner.

This book had great info on a supplement that is almost completely out of being stream awareness. The health benefits of pine pollen are myriad, and surprising. A great, informative read !

Eye opener, just like the rest of his books
Like my title says, it opened my eyes. Additionally, it is very enjoyable reading. It's nice to know we can turn to mother nature for our medicinal needs.

Very interesting!
Great little info-packed book, read it & make up your own mind.Worth checking out his other titles too, he writes fluently & reading is smooth sailing. Just started his book on sacred fermentation, again very enjoyable read. Looking forward to trying some of the recipes :)

Pine Pollen!! Really!!
Informative and humorous, a real eye opener. I like to see at least some of the science behind any claims of health benefits of natural products. And, you get it in a very interesting, intriguing and easily digestible manner.

In Asien ist Pine Pollen schon seit Jahrhunderten weit verbreitet und wird so langsam auch vom Westen endeckt.Die Anwendungen reichen von der Verbesserung des Hautbildes bis hin zur Potenzsteigerung.Ich bin durch eine Empfehlung eines Freundes aus Kalifornien auf Pine Pollen gestoßen.Pine Pollen enthält von Natur aus Testosteron und DHEA. Beide Hormone, die den Muskelaufbau anregen.Nach einer 2,5-Monatskur konnte ich ca. 3 Kilogramm an Gewicht zunehmen und habe sichtbar den Körperfettanteil reduzieren können.Wenn man das Fett abzieht müssten es knapp 4 Kilogramm Muskelmasse sein.Ich denke, dass Pine Pollen hier ein gewissen Beitrag geleistet hat.Ich kann dieses Buch weiterempfehlen, da sowohl zum Anwendungsspektrum als auch zur Einnahmeempfehlung Angaben gemacht werden.PS: Ich hatte es nicht nötig, aber Stephen Buhner Stephen Buhner weist auch darauf hin, dass Pine Pollen insbesondere bei Männern mit "altersbedingten Problemchen" hilfreich sein kann.
