Perfect device...compact and easy to use.
This is great for uploading softward to your computer. I have already used it to do so. I also uploaded music from CDs. It's perfect. I highly recommend this product. You just plug it in with the cable provided and away you go.

Good, but in 7-2022, just not sure what to say.
I have a serious problem with LG. Neither LG or Verizon Wireless, the same cellphone carrier that my dad has been contracted with since about 2004. There was no communication from either company org to tell me or my dad that LG has ceased making phones, tablets, and who knows, what else more they do not make.Another problem is that, this external DVD player is the third DVD play I have bought going back to, I think, 2015. The problem that I am having is a worry. A worry that the DVD player will not function, soon, because of lack of updates. All computer equipment needs needs updates every so often for updates.Well, the problem with my phone had me worried, as well. (Oops, I was to buy a new phone, today and completely forgot. LOL) The reason why I need a new phone is because there was an LG update, sometime in the past up from about a year to a year and a half ago, according to Verizon tech support. Well, that update is the problem. It seems to be that LG in the update, removed all of their software and Verizon dumped their's in the phone. That new software is all that is running the phone. In the last three months, I have had two serious medical conditions. One of them being insomina and the so-called medical professionals are not really helping me. Because of this problem, I may have used the phone once, during that time. I was even forgetting to bring the phone with me to buy food from the store or a restaurant. Ya, fun times, you know what I mean? (LOL)So, I did not know there was any problems. Also, the problems with the phone became to be worse. Sometimes, I need to work the phone to get it off of the lock screen to restart (reboot) the phone, just to unlock the phone for usage. The phone is next to a paperweight.I am worried, now, about the DVD player. I am on number three, since about 2015, as I said, above. Well, I am not going to put myself in this situation with LG, again. No communication, at all, and my phone is next to junk. Also, the DVD player just activated for no reason when I was typing a document. I have no idea why the player did that. That has not happened since I bought it, back in 2020.A lot of you on here have great stories, about the player. So, do I. I highly recommend LG's products over any other brand. But after I am in knowledge of this, after all these years using their phones, going back to before 2015, I am just in shock. I thought they were not doing the new stupidity that Sony has been doing, since the year: 2000. I guess, many of us that thought that way, at some point in the last year and a half, are wrong, and that is not our fault. So, plain and simple, as of now, I am not playing any games. I just noticed that this player came out on Amazon before 2015. That means, it has been on the market for so long that, it could be dead as far as any tech support or updates.I am not happy about this, one bit. We need to find a reliable tech company. We thought that back in the 90's, that Panasonic and Sony were the way to go. But then their stuff was slowly disappearing, and rumors were abound that they were not making their VCRs and TVs. My old Sony from 98, it is not known whom built it. The computer in the TV when plugged into an old Dell laptop computer named a company of a Japanese firm, I had neve heard of. So, really, can we as people rely on a company to stick around and keep on making products that are good? I just really would like to rely on a company from a customer point of view, and have not been able to do that, in 22 years. BTW, I am only, just turned 43. Ya, time goes by fast. LOL

Good quality
My new heavy duty computer did not come with a cd/dvd drive and I still use CD for multiple applications. This reader/burner seems to work great after a month of use.

EVERYTHING IS CONFUSING - NOT PLUG & PLAY
Like a "plug & play" external DVD/CD drive I previously bought & returned, this is not plug & play. My computer DID NOT automatically [usually almost instantaneously] recognize that this LG drive was plugged in to the USB. So of course it did not ask me what I wanted to do with the LG drive. There are no instructions with this LG drive. There is a Cyberlink Media Suite 10 allegedly "for DVD" that comes with it. So I assumed I needed to put it in the LG drive & supposedly it installed something on my computer to make everything "work". The fine print on the Cyberlink disc only says things like "Insert the disc and Autorun will automatically launch the program" [duh, for what?] and also on the disc it says "Bundled applications only for Windows 7/8/10" [whatever that is supposed to mean]. But, having "run/installed" the Cyberlink, the LG drive did not play a self-created DVD which used to previously play flawlessly on my computer's internal DVD drive [which is now broken]. Also saw something on the Cyberlink "document" downloaded & read on my computer that said [for?] Windows 7, 8 & 8.1 [DVD playing?], but not Windows 10, which is what I have. So, a confusing strike one.I was then able to play a commercial [store bought] CD, but not able to burn a CD, but the jury is still out on that. It could be an itunes issue. Stay "tuned" for a follow-up.This LG drive is made of plastic & is about as "solid" as something this thin made of plastic can be. To me, the spinning of the disc is not "noisy" - actually rather quiet [I expect & suspect the noise will get louder as the device ages, which of course is only natural]. But again, I have not burned anything with this LG drive [so don't know what kind of/how much noise it makes when doing so] and also unknown is whether that something burned on this LG drive will play in another computer, CD player, car player, etc.Well, how good is a drive that, even if it may be able to play & burn CDs, cannot play DVDs, and burn DVDs? For whatever it's worth, this LG drive [at least] does beat the prior drive I bought which could do absolutely none of the above. So, 2 stars right now, with follow up to come.__________About a week later. Re-installed my itunes, which I thought was the issue as to why this LG did not burn a CD. Nope. My computer did not even recognize/detect that the LG was in the USB. When I clicked "burn" from either itunes or the installed Cyberlink Media program, nothing happened but my internal laptop CD drive that is broken opened. Crappy. Beyond angry & disappointed. Wasted a lot of time trying to burn a CD. Strike Three.Wasted more time calling an Amazon "tech" rep who tried to help, but of course, as mentioned in other reviews, was beyond his capabilities [not his fault]. He tried contacting an LG rep, but of course they were closed, where ever they were located, and obviously NOT 24/7 service. Strike Four.Product description/country of origin says "Made in China" but I found on the label "Made in Malaysia". So I am reporting incorrect product information.LG is a South Korea company, with allegedly a pretty good track record, so I am surprised. Can't burn a CD, can't play a DVD - not even gonna try burn a DVD. Absolutely disgusting.RETURNING this crap. Lucky all you folks for whom this product seemed to have worked properly.Downgraded to ONE STAR.7-29-21 Just wanted to add something I forgot. This drive has received high marks & comments from the following: LifeWire 2-17-21; The Tech Lounge 5-28-21; ReviewsGarage undated; & NYTimes.com [updated 11-6-20]. So much for the "expert's" reviews.
