Nicotiana tabacum is the most widely grown species of smoking tobacco. While native to the Americas, this plant is a traveler. There are dozens of unique cultivars available, many hailing from distinct parts of the world. Our strain originated from Horizon Herbs in Williams, Oregon but can now properly be called a Mano Farm landrace as we’ve cultivated it on our land and saved seed from the plants for many years over. Smoking Tobaccos are striking ornamental plants that can reach up to six feet in height. They produce abundant gorgeous, pink, trumpet-shaped flowers. However, with the proper nurturance and maintenance in the garden, plants will produce copious leaves that can be harvested and cured for smoking. Note that when tobacco is being grown for smoking, method is everything. Plants must be topped and suckered – essentially prevented from going to flower – throughout their entire life stage. Leaves must be harvested at the appropriate stage – a paling green/light yellow hint that is not easy to convey via words or pictures. And the curing process itself is an art – with dozens of tried and trued method, it’s best to do a lot of research ahead of time prior to harvest. Consult the Fair Trade Tobacco and How To Grow Tobacco forums for more information. When done right, home cured tobacco has an entirely different essence than anything that can be found commercially.

Highly recommended plant
Fantastic seeds. I had room for just two plants, and one of them grew over 6 feet and the leaves were massive. I did have trouble with aphids, which were loaded in the flowers - I had to be all over it, and I used a neem oil and soap mix. I didn't plan on smoking it, but I hung bundles anyway, just because I had to do something with the leaves. They felt sticky as if they were coated with honey, and it smelled sweet and nice. I never fermented the leaves, but just recently 3/5/17 I smoked some of it, and I was surprised at how smooth and nice of a smoke it was. The leaves were very dry and crispy and appeared like yard waste, but still worked and tasted nice. I brought some to the local cigar lounge, and others seemed to be impressed with this home grown plant as well. Highly recommended for a novelty plant. Very cool looking, very green and fun to have.

Would buy again
i bought this a few months ago and waited until I started to cure my leaves to write my review. They grew as expected. I live in an apartment so space is limited. I sprouted about 50 seeds, gave most to friends and family and kept the best 3 for my small yard. After about 2 1/2 months I have about 4 lbs of green leaves curing.I would recommend to anyone interested in growing your own tobacco.I'm going to make chew out of mine but the leaves are good enough quality to be cured and rolled into cigars if you are patient enough to wait for the long cure time.

Once seeds start plants grow strong
Plants are growing nice and strong almost like weeds! First tried planting seeds in tray of potting soil and it took almost 3 weeks to sprout maybe 50% of them. I then used a seed starting tray with a heated mat and grow light 18 hours on and almost all of the seeds sprouted within a week and grew very fast. Plants are looking good now almost time to start to turn color. This is my first time growing tobacco.

They are tobacco seeds for sure.
So far, about 50-80% off the seedlings have sprouted. It's hard to tell really, because I killed a lot of them by not watering them enough! I think there were well over 300 seeds in the package. Hopefully the seeds grow well when planted outside. Hopefully I remember to update my review when I am done! Any questions? Post them and I'll try to answer.

Plants seem to grow fine
Great germination. Definitely gave me way more plants than I could use. The plants seem to grow fast and healthy. They definitely need their space and lots of soil to optimize growth. Mine hit a plateau at first because I didn't transfer them to bigger containers early in their cycle, but as soon as I did they took off. Maintenance is rather low on these plants. Overall I am satisfied with the product.

Great results
I waited until my plants were successful to review. Five stars! My initial order did not arrive so I contacted the seller and they promptly sent replacements. I was worried I had started too late so I decided to try a container and it's working out well. To my surprise, some of the others that I transplanted to my garden are also doing great and I should have 5 massive plants by the end of the season.

And I didn't count but I think I had a fairly good germination rate as well
Germinated a lot quicker than expected based on what I've heard and read that would. And I didn't count but I think I had a fairly good germination rate as well.
