CHEW Omnivore Edition, Vol. 1

Original Flavor
Chew is original, exciting and dynamic. It is definitely not a comic you buy for your 8 year old nephew, but its much funnier than it is offensive. This edgy comic will keep you up laughing, and honestly you won't be able to put it down if you are anything like me (the gross moments are more over the top and interesting than they are disgusting). On the quality of the book itself: definitely go for the omnivore edition over the paperback. The book will last much longer (this is going to be one you reread). Image comics does a great job making quality hardback books. My "Invincible" ultimate collection books have been borrowed and reread so many times and don't show any sign of wear to the binding. This book is worth having in hard back, especially if you want to start making a decent comic book library for yourself. You can never go wrong in investing in quality for an Eisner award winner.

Chew for the Win
First time reading a graphic novel, seen a lot of recommends for this one so I thought about trying it out and I must Say....I have Became a big fan already for the work. The art, the story breakdown, and character build. One con though, the book came scratchy as if it’s been passed down numerous of times but other than that good read!

This story is AMAZING. If you love comics like Invincible or any CSI type tale, this IS your jam. So worth the read. (I made a food pun there. I'm a funny guy.)However, it has very few extras at the end, so when you buy this, be aware you are mainly paying for a hardcover version. But this is a solid comic with its own quirky humor mixed with a dark tone. Addicting, and freaking amazing. I will be reading more of this series.but, if you are trying to determine whether or not you want to put down a bit more for the omnivore vs paperback, I do not have the answer you are looking for.

Great comic
This is a great way to get started on a great comic. If you like colorful and stylized art, Rob Guillory is the man for you. The story is weird but you get used to it pretty quickly. It's funny, sometimes silly, and always entertaining. I'd recommend it to anyone with a strong enough stomach to take the main plot (the main character can get psychic readings from anything he eats, including people). Geared toward an older teen/adult audience.

Incredible all around
Chew is my new favorite. The story line is a breath of fresh air, the writing has a legitimate dark-comedy value that doesn't feel forced and kind of sneaks up on you, and the artwork of course is fantastic. It destroys a lot of comic illustration out there. Mind, you I don't go for the big muscle bound hero kind of superhero comics, I'm so much more of an indie fan.

Damaged
The story is great three stars because the hardcover was severely damaged and bent up the paper and everything else is ok but whatever

Very good.
Bought both of the first volumes on a hunch that it might be good. Very good indeed. I consumed the entire first volume in a single sitting and the second was quick to follow. Sometimes dark, but very well written, kind of like Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics. Packaged in a nice hard cover with a ribbon bookmark. Definitely worth it.
