How do you fruit directly from the bag? The bag looks to be filled to the top with substrate ....don't see where there is room for them to grow?

Be careful with advice here! The reason these bags, with the strip that can breathe out CO2, etc, is like it is, is this sterilized, non puntured bag which the Mushrooms grow in is sterile! Sterilization is a must, or the process can/will go bad! These bags are made for the Mushrooms to grow in. When done, and ready. Slice the bag open! Your next spore print syringe reqires a new Mushroom medium bag, that has a tiny, self sealing hole where you inject the spores! Homestead Mushroom Kit started the sterilized bag, and you mix everything together in this bag (other separate bags within this main sterilized bag), thus causing no contamination problem. These had been around for 20 years, and while they explain them well, you can buy these much, much cheaper nowadays, just missing the "spore syringe", like this company, as well as others. From all I've heard, spore syringes are quite easy to get, and not real expensive, making this very simple. Now if the Mushrooms being grown are Psylocibin Cubensis, these very well could get you in trouble in most places, so caution! I believe all spores and spore syringes are legal. But yeah, when done, the bag is then sliced open, and you have to buy another new bags afterwards! No problem!!!👍💜🙏

Never done this. Do i just buy this and inject spores and wait? Anyone know a good link to info that wont take hours of googling?

If you want to learn everything needed to cultivate, you need to go to the shroomery website their guides and tek can be applied to "non active" mushrooms , read books from paul stamets. To use these grow bags you just set it in a room with a stable room temp, doesn't need to be in darkness as mushrooms aren't photosynthesizers. Wear a facemask or respirator, gloves, Wipe everything down including the bag and syringe with 70% isopropyl alcohol, any time you go to touch/pickup something different you need to sterilize your hands (70% iso emollient), be aware of disturbing the air around you when moving, give the lc/spore syringe a good shake, then use a butane torch or lighter to flame sterilize the end of the needle inject 5cc, wipe injection port again with new iso wipe and then cover the port with tape to prevent potential leak if it's a poorly made injection port, set and forget for 2-4 weeks for colonization of grain, follow the manufacturers guide for bag prep and mixing the substrate. Always practice Aseptic technique, even in a non sterile environment. :)

So all you do is innoculate amd once the bottom has colonized do you mix it all together or what?

Yes . Let the rye berries 100% colonize then mix together . Then let the whole thing colonize after mixing. Then start giving it some indirect sunlight and you should have magic. I know you want to look at as it’s growing but best thing is not to touch it till you have too. Let it be till mixing then let it be till light.
