Sometimes you come across a film which stays with you and watch over andover again ! ' There Is Only One Jimmy Grimble ' is one of those films as faras I am concerned ! The story of Jimmy and his disrupted home life and his shyness to be able tohave a relationship with the new girl at school is one which brings out the verybest of him on the School football field. So under the guidance of Eric Widdell hisgames teacher and his mum's ex boyfriend his dreams come true ! Oh and there isthe magic football boots of course which the elderly lady who lives under a dillapitedhouse on his estate gives him ! This is a movie which came out in the year 2000 and I have enjoyed many times since. Amodern Fairy Tale which tells of how Jimmy Grimble's love of Manchester City and a dreamof becoming a professional player drive him on. Despite being bullied at School. Not beingat all happy with his home life living with his mother and being unlucky in love. But whatthis proves in the end is that there is definetly ' ONLY ONE JIMMY GRIMBLE ' !I cannot recommend this football comedy film highly enough !!!!Thank YouCraig : )

I first saw this film in the cinema, out on my own, in London around 2000.In 2022, I thought I could show it to my 14 year old footie-crazed son, and it was a good bet as he loved it.Mostly it's about coming of age, gaining self-confidence, overcoming disappointment, surviving bullying, and finding yourself when your home-life doesn't provide all the support you need.Jimmy Grimble turns out okay despite supporting the hapless Manchester team who can't win, while all his friends support the other team, and despite his single-mother's lack of support for Jimmy and her useless boyfriend.The film stars the always-great Robert Carlyle as a influential coach with his own backstory.

My kids grew up loving this film. My granson is loving it now !! Absolutely fantastic family filmCan’t rate it highly enough !!!!

Real feel good film about a boy and his dreams.

My family have loved this film since it first came out. It is our feel good film and cheers us up when we need it most. It's also a study of modern life and shows how things have changed (or not) in a couple of decades. Manchester United fans will probably not enjoy it so much!

This is one of the best soccer, inspiration movies out there. This is one of my favourite movies and I'm so glad to have it back in my movie library again!

... I enjoyed this movie for completely different reasons. Great acting, a good mystery thrown in, nice characters. Especially enjoyed 'Johnny Two-Dogs', what a rotter.

Excellent movie.very good acting especially the boy playing Jimmy & ,as always, Robert Carlyle. A watch & enjoy more than once movie.
