Gorgeous boxes
I have been a huge fan of Jonathan Adler aesthetic, and this was my chance to snag a couple of his designs at a more reasonable price. I have them sitting on my dresser, holding a bunch of knick-knacks that I don't use very frequently - they look absolutely gorgeous. Totally elevates the look of the room!

Overwhelming strong odor that won't go away
Love the color, size and construction...noticed a slight odor, assumed it was the paint. Over time - about a month - the oder has become so strong that I had to put these in the garage. Anything I had stored in them - reading light, lip balm, sleeping mask, etc.. - has become contaminated....the odor is a VERY strong petroleum type one. I washed the boxes and lids, sat them in the sun, washed again, etc. and it just gets worse. I LOVE this line, but something is wrong here... and potentially toxic to the consumer not to mention those in the factory making this stuff.

Nowhere near worth the price
I adore Jonathan Adler and I have a LOT of his pieces; both from his store, and his line here on Amazon. It pains me to give anything he does a bad review. From a distance these are cute enough. I suppose they are cute close up too, if you paid about $20 for the set. They are super cheap Asian imports. The wood is cheap and light. The paint on the larger box is fine. The black trim on the smaller one was poorly painted, all crooked and messy. Not to mention there were light black paint smudges all over the top. The quality of the boxes is similar to what you'd expect to pick up in Chinatown or Big Lots, but you certainly wouldn't be paying almost $60 for them.If the top of the smaller box didn't look as if it were filthy from the paint smear I probably would have kept it because the design is perfect for my room; however, i would have felt completely ripped off and disgusted. But since it is messy and looks gross, back it goes.Keep looking, you can find something with a similar look that is a lot better quality for a lot less money.

Nice boxes - a bit overpriced.
These Stacking boxes look great with the chroma Lacquer Tray from this same collection - Now House by Jonathan Adler.I found the boxes are very lovely and the white color with black accent is quiet stunning in person. If you look very closely you will see that the black paint is not perfect - but honestly this does not bother me. The boxes are wood and the lids do fit quiet tightly at first - but after a week or so they seemed to be perfect to open/close.The boxes are easy to clean - just wipe the dust off. If something liquid does get on them - which some did on one of mine and I used a bit of force of nature on microfiber cloth and it came off with ease. For the price that you are paying these could be a bit better in quality - and the boxes had to gas off in the garage for two days after opening them.Jonathan Adler has been offering really amazing products with his new line - Now House. I would really suggest that you take a look at this amazing jewelry box in person as the colors are just amazing.

Works with most decor
The Now House stacking boxes are pretty straightforward. It is a pair of small, nicely finished boxes. They are smaller than I was expecting, and heavier as well. I had to look back at the page to make sure it was not ceramic, as my other boxes from Jonathan Adler are. They re nicely finished and fit nicely with most decor, at least the black and white boxes. I do have to say that they do not have as much of a wow factor as other pieces I have from Jonathan Adler. They are something which might make a nice hostess gift, but in my opinion, are not as stylish as many of his other pieces.I do have to say that I did not notice the issues that other customers have had.I did not notice a smell, but when my daughter looked at them, her first comment was that they smell of paint thinner. I have seasonal allergies and did not notice because of the congestion. My family did. The finish, however, is fine. I have only had them a short time, and if that changes I will update my review as appropriate. Initially the only thing which was unexpected, out of the ordinary to me, was the weight. They are much more substantial than I would expect of a laquer box. While attractive, I do not know that I can recommend them because of the strong odor. It's disappointing coming from a designer of this caliber. I have been happy with other products I have gotten from Jonathan Adler, and Now house, to include another trinket box (which is ceramic). I do not think it reflects on the entire line but they seem to be having quality controlo problems with this item.Amazon's pictures give you a good idea of what they look like. Pay attention to the dimensions, as they do appear smaller than I had expected. The boxes are not lined or padded and it is a hard surface, not appropriate for delicate items. I am personally going to see if I can hide our remote controls in them.

Prefect!
Absolutely beautiful. Compliments my decor perfectly. These do have a weird smell when you 1st open but quickly went away.

Really Jonathan?
I am shocked that La Adler would put his name on a product and not have some type of quality control. As someone who owns quite a few items by JA it is surprising how many flaws exist on these boxes. To add insult to injury, my replacement has the same issues (lines are off and small scratches on both tops).
